I have several firearms. Some I have bought in private sales. There is absolutely no record of me owning them, anywhere. But they are perfectly legal in every sense.

:O
Thats really scary. So basically you could kill someone and as the gun is not registered no-one would be able to deduce it to you, unless there would be some witnesses who saw you. Correct?

We have a Ban on all fully auto weapons in all but I believe 3 states who have strongly said no to that federal law.

So you can own things like this?
en.wikipedia.org...:M2_machine_gun.jpg
:O
Do you control somehow moving these automatic weapons between states or is it just when police sees auto weapon, it is taken and owner charged?

So there are no weapon limits of any kind. One can have as many weapons as they like? Weapon collectors don't need special permission? That's dare I say crazy... I mean I'don't have anything against owning gun or whole armory, but to all weapon sales to be so uncontrolled is... dare I say...crazy...

You cannot conceal any firearm (keep it hidden) without a permit approved by your county law enforcement.

Please clarify.

I still dont think it will happen. It would be stupid policy wise, because this issue would incite people more then a lot of other things. It would easily be the "straw that breaks the camel's back" so to speak, and they dont want that.

But there is a chance that my feeling of "the vast majority of people" which i feel support gun ownership could not represent the true population, after all the NRA rally did just happen in my home city.

Outlawing guns? Of course it won't happen. It's a rumor made up by right wingers to spread paranoia and fear among their party members and supporters. It's all about votes, don't you know?

"Make sure you vote Obama the gun hating COMMIE/NAZI/FASCIST/SOCIALIST/MARXIST (somehow they all fit one person according to Glenn Beck) out of office and vote ME, SARAH PALIN IN! I'll let you keep your guns."

There is no threat of anyone removing your weapons, I assure you that.

An assault rifle is a powerful weapon but nothing can beat the weapon of Fear. This is exactly what the Republicans are doing.

Here is the only fair way to stop gun crime.

Punish the criminals who actually commit the crime for a change instead of punishing gun manufacturers, gun sellers, and legal gun owners.

Pass a Federal statute that says anyone who commits a crime with a gun in their possession, gets the death penalty if convicted. And make it so they will not wait more than 12 months for it to take place. Hire extra judges and lawyers if necessary to push the appeals through as quickly as possible. I believe the costs will be much lower than keeping them on death row for life.

This will substantially punish the real gun criminals and send a message to those who might follow in their footsteps.

People commit gun crimes because the punishment is not yet severe enough to deter them.

You can own a fully automatic weapon, but as far as I know, you still need a federal license in the states that allow ownership of such weapons. Granted, the cost of a fully automatic weapon is prohibitive to most who aren't at least moderately wealthy. To my knowledge, there's no limit on the number of firearms that anyone may legally own in any US jurisdiction, though some limit the number of purchases per month.

As for firearms sales, if you go through a dealer, you *must* submit to a criminal background check. There's no way around it. Private sales between individuals? In some states, these are unregulated. For instance, in my state, I can buy my neighbor's used 12 gauge and we don't have to report the transaction to the government. That's not true in every state, however.

Gamecock, maybe you and I differ in our assumptions of the intention of our federal government. At times I feel they want an uprising to pave the way for a suffocating police state. I believe it is a bunch of men after control, as it has always been. One state has already fully banned weapons. So you can't say it's impossible, as it has already happened on a small level, maybe a "test" level? See how people respond then push it further.

A mans intentions and desires are very important in his character for me. If a man intends to take away your gun rights, and desires it, then the only piece of the puzzle missing is the opportunity. So would you agree that your statement truly says... "I do not believe the POTUS will ever have the opportunity to Restrict all weapon ownership on a federal level" ??

Whether it would result in bad consequences or good ones is irrelevant to me, as humanity has proven time and time again we will do it anyway and clean up after.

Not debating your opinion, it is valid. Simply trying to clarify your feelings on the subject.

In my state SpeDeZo (Washington) you are required to get a concealed carry permit for any gun, no mater the size, if it is not going to be completely visible.

This law extends to blade weapons over a certain size (do not know the size off the top of my head)

This was the best answer I could find about fully automatic weapons. Man did I not know what I was talking about! I need to stop assuming I understand law and research it.

First the "assault weapons ban" had nothing to do with automatic weapons in any way,it banned ownership ,sale, and importation of numerous semi automatic rifles and shotguns and was only an attempt a beginning to ban all privately own, guns used for sport, defense and hunting, there is no such thing as an "assault weapon"firearm any weapon you could assault someone with would be,all the way to a rock or club.the AWB was a meaningless piece of legislation designed to ban legal gun ownership, nothing more..as for full auto weapons, it varies from state to state, some allow class 3 weapons (full auto) some dont, the NFA tax of $200 is on NFA list weapons, full auto firearms, smooth barreled cartridge rifles, short barreled shotguns, short barreled rifles..ETC there isnt any extra tax on a semi-auto rifle ,you can buy them at any guns shop ,and KY allows full auto ownership and shooting (check out the bi-annual gatherings down that way such as Knob creek online) Most states and the feds limit private citizens(non-law enforcement and holders of a machine gun dealers license ) to own firearms made prior to 1986 ban,and some limitted to the pre-1968 amnesty weapons.thats all to make machine guns very restricted and unavailable supposedly..the truth is there are 500 illegal MGs for every legal one (likely more than that) and if they banned an confiscated all the legal ones,it would have zero effect on crime,as legally registered machine guns are never used in criminal activities. If you want a AK,UZi,MAC 9 ,or Tec99 in full auto you can buy one pretty cheap in memphis or nashville any night of the week illegally.

Here is law by state: en.wikipedia.org...

Relax M8.

Sarah will tell ANY audience what she thinks they want to hear.

I'll be glad when she realizes her political career is over, and starts to

make XXX MILF films.

Laughs hard. Good one Sean. Some folks just don't get it. When they LOSE, there supposed to go out on the rubber chicken circuit then fade away to obsurity. In her case she just dosn't get the consept. And will say anything to get any kind of knee jerk reponse from anyone. As long as she gets paid. Worse thing is folks actualy believe her.

Lets put this in perspective for example. Last week we all got to see the riots in athens Greece. Folks throwing rocks and molitoff cocktails reminded me of the Gaza & west bank uprisings.

That would never happen here in the good old USA. Reason being is citizens of greece can't own firearms, its one of the laws that the EU put into effect. Here in the US out of the 300+ million americans lets ay with only 1 firearm ownership and we all know some folks own more than one, handgun, rifle, shotgun, semi-suto and some full auto. Thats alot of firearms in the common man and womans pocession. Lets say only 150 million have guns. No president in his right or wrong mind is going to try to take anyones guns away in fear that the people would stand up and revolt, like they did in the greek riots.

If the greeks had firearms it would have been alot more bloody in the streets last week on CNN.

So relax folks, and don't listen to ex-govenors that quit there jobs, no ones going to take your firearm away.

On another note it would be bad for the ecconomy, billions of dollars are spent on the creation and production of firearms. Never going to happen.

Goes back to oiling his combat shotgun with a smile.

I will admit that even though I am an avid gun owner (not a criminal, 20+ year military veteran so I know all to well the human price suffered), but I AGREE with you. Honestly...I would want NOTHING MORE than to have such a peaceful existence with my fellow humankind as I believe as a result...we could evolve SO MUCH GREATER.

But....

Unfortunately we do NOT live in such a fantasy world. Please understand...not only you but to all of the rest of those that might be so quick to judge LAWFUL gun owning Americans...that a vast majority of us see the firearm as nothing more than a necessary tool (if not for something for sport), and as a last resort in the long list of home/personal/family protection. IT IS NOT US that our citizens should fear as I urge you to find me statistics of those of us that are LEGAL gun owners, and say a ratio to those of us that HAVE robbed the corner liqueur store, to those who HAVE NOT.

In fact I would not doubt it at all that with the direction that this country is headed, that it would have arrived MUCH FASTER had you NOT had so many well armed Americans within it's borders. Firearms can be one hell of an "equalizer" when it comes to holding off tyranny and many other injustices. Most of those that attempt to label us in a bad light unfortunately have a BIG misconception and are ignorant...and most likely have NEVER OWNED A GUN before which leads to unbridled fear as it is our natural tendency to FEAR WHAT WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND.

I dunno...just my .02.

A Socialist Texan?? Holy $%&*!!! Good god I never thought I'd see the day. This person quoted above is a prime example of how twisted they have our ability to interpret what is going on around us. A Texan supporting the man who supports the banks destroying and perverting our liberty and freedom and crushing our countries economy. You just made me worry a tenseeeeee bit more then I already do for the state of the union.

Wait I'm jumping the gun, he probably moved to Texas 2 years ago from Cali or somewhere.

Well, I'd like to hear Obama's thoughts on why we should have guns. I want to hear him talk about why he wouldn't ban all guns if he could. Anyone got a link?

And "unconstitutional" isn't a reason he can use, because if it wasn't unconstitutional he would ban them in a heartbeat.

All he has to do is declare martial law. And believ me when they do, they will be way prepared for your reaction. Don't think they are stupid, this is a long term plan and each piece painstakingly put into place.

All of you supposed Americans however don't do squat to help each other so when it hits noone will have your back.

I know. Right now we are being maligned and accused and standing trial for absolutely nothing, but be at the recieving end of a mentally disturbed person and false allegations. Yet there is none inside or outside the supposed "patriot" movement to help us.

So if we can not count on any help now, do you actually think you will have in when martial law is declared? Do you think they will politely knock on your door? So naive. All the warnings and you think it will just be on the nightly news and you will have time to prepare.

ATS the place for Dumb and Dumber to hang out.

You are correct. The state that I live in does not require registration of firearms.

But then again, I could do a murder with a knife or poison or many other ways.

Gun laws vary from state to state. And a permit to carry concealed does not give you the right to carry concealed in every state. Some states have reciprocity laws which honor another state's laws, but not every state does.

Sez you. We will keep our weapons as long as we exercise due diligence against those who want to take them from us - and there are such people. Thanks for your assurance, but I'll take something more tangible, like the NRA.
