It is pretty much only me that will not see her. I have my own reasons which i'm sure no one will agree with. Though i do beleive she has cut down in her old age the truth is i feel she is now passed the stage of being saved. To give up for a whole year and then to start again? Its a picture with a thousand words. I pleaded with her years ago to get help, i even resorted to pouring it down the drain and enduring the crap that inevitably came with it (Brave sod i was lol)
I know it would be financially efficiant to kick people like this off teh dole, but people need money to live on so it would most likely result in a surge of petty crime and suddently, those that are going out to work are getting robbed while they do and then in prison those people are £15 a . to keep - You cant win.
If only everything was black and white, but then that would be deemed racist and the PC police would probably arrest you for thought crime.

Personally I am sick to death of hearing people I know who either don't or barely work, then are able they just don't , sit back and get thousands of dollars come refund time! One girl I know worked 2 weeks last year, 2 weeks! She got nearly 4 thousand dollars in a 'refund'. I worked my ass off all year, I have no dependant children in the home, and I got a 66 dollar refund. Something is wrong with that picture! And it is everywhere! I say do away with the child tax credit.

I will never say anything is for sure, but I guarantee you 99% that they would be rioting. I do not want to sound racist, because I am not, but it will look like Los Angeles in 1992 after that court case, except this time all across America. It would mostly be minorities and blue collar workers who would be rioting and protesting.

They would tell the government that they already rob them of tax dollar then they don’t even want to give them a child tax credit? If I was the government I would be getting the hell out of Washington, ASAP.

That was only the first salvo from this new government, I wonder whats coming next, Not hard to figure that one out, Higher taxes higher national insurance Internet charges (changes) ?
They have already closed down two accident and emergency departments alone in this part of the world, Pulled funding on special needs children's projects,
My guess for what its worth, We will all roll into work sometime soon and the "gaffer" will say "We are proposing a new work place restructuring programme".. Longer hours less pay, Take it or do one.. IMO...

I have always wanted to move abroad, I guess I can check Great Britian off of my list. It's just terrible that saying the word 'Great' in 'Great Britian' feels like a hyperbole.

In fairness we here in N,Ireland are governed by a committed socialist party Sinn Fein, and a watered down conservative party, So are given a fair amount of leway in our allocated budget from westminster and Brussels, All in the name off the "peace process" So maybe its not all doom and gloom in these "wee islands" Just because the countries run a bit short on money does not mean we are skint, We Just have tighten are belts so to speak...

Is the budget better or worse in N. Ireland compared to Scotland, England and Wales? I know none of them others are governed by true socialists, so I just wanted to know if socialists are better at balancing a budget than 'new labour' and conservatives.

Looking around it appears that the child trust funds will be scrapped for those earning over £16k and child tax credits will be scrapped for those earning over £50k.

Considering we have a massive budget deficit and huge debt problem this doesn't sound all that unfair to me.

"They haven't gone away ya know" Would be a better way to describe it Misoir, Considering the billions that was spent on security here in the "troubles" over 35 years, We have a high dependence on state jobs here so its a bit off toing and throwing, And (IMO) a handy little ace card to play,
As i have said on other posts we have alot of relocating English families moving here apparently because "We are more British than the British"

i feel sorry for whoever takes over .. they are being left with a lot of debt and a social breakdown rich v poor .. if u will .

im on benefits and get my identity of disabled ... im ok with that .. but there are a lot of leaches out there claiming bad backs and paranoia ... filter these fools out into jobs .. if need be stop community service and give them the jobs in the JC they will soon want to find a better job and contribute ... i wish i could contribute .. but alas is impossible.

oh and only give child tax credit for an eldest child, it would refrain a lot of young ladies from opening their legs

lol want to run for pm u have my vote

they should cut all expense accounts, for goodness sake we are paying for the governments tabs.

lots of the councils have also pocketed more money than many think, my local council pocketed lots thanks to a big bird in a big place who told me and they haven't even been made to pay it back or put it in the press.....oh and they smoke pot too .... whoops

the problem also is obviously, what doesn't get reported front page just like what I have just told you

yes but it will be a shock to some families like lady boo in previous comments.

if they cut her child credit she will have to quit her job and look after her kids because the credit pays for them to be looked after....

Without it i would have to give up work and this would mean my children would suffer because we don't have the two incomes!!!!

Suffer because they may have to give up some material comforts? Would they not benefit greatly from having their mum around full time?

We, as a society, place too much worth on material possessions. The most valuable thing you can give your children is time. And yet we often work our behinds off to give them stuff, at the expense of time.

I hear it all the time form the mothers at my job..I"'d like to stay at home and take care ofmy children full time but we can't afford it"

Sorry, but that's hogwash. Having only one income would mean you have to adjust your life style, isn't that a small price to pay for the benefits of actually getting to raise your children properly?

Am I the only who sees a correlation between societal breakdown and the last fifty years of "working mothers"?

If you make more than 50K GBP, you shouldn't get any credits, end of.

I would much rather fund a family on one income who are raising responsible citizens, then a family on two incomes who don't have the time to raise good citizens.

when I haven't worked it has took me ages to save up for things, I would save up a big amount and buy what I need in 1 go and save up for nights out so I always had a spare lump of cash somewhere also, I work out what's cheaper and where, also I have cut out things I didn't need, I have never been so more manageable with money, I hope I can save enough to get outta here one day! or at least take a very long holiday

and at least I have a back up if shtf for any reason

I hate spending what I haven't got,, hold on I don't spend what I haven't got and that's where i am all good in this sense

I buy what I can afford, and if i cannot afford it i save up and by then its cheaper
