Gulf Oil Spill More Than 10X Greater Than Thought: Experts

www.npr.org

NPR has learned that much more oil, 70,000 barrels a day or more than ten times the official estimate, is gushing into the Gulf of Mexico from the Deepwater Horizon pipe, based on scientific analysis of the video released Wednesday.

That's the equivalent of one Exxon Valdez tanker full every four days.

Thanks to Alex at http://(nolink)/ for staying on this story day and night. The gov has been keeping this under wraps until they have everything in place. Now the truth is ready to be known. People will panic. Of course the meat of this new development will hit the MSM on saturday afternoon while most of america is out shopping and knocking back cold ones, but soon it will be MainStream News that an Exxon Valdez has been eclipsed every four days. Oh... I pray that there be a beautiful silver-lining to Oilgeddon.

youtube link to vid that has been analyzed: www.youtube.com...

Personally I think this isn't even the worst section. I still contend that there is a gapping chasm down there erupting oil like a volcano.

Is "spill" really the correct description?
Shouldn't it be something more like "gusher" or "erruption"?
Wonder when they are going to talk about the near-by fault line and how this may affect the geography in the near future?

I think the gulf of mexico is toast. Just my unscientific opinion of course.

I'm wondering about currents carrying this stuff out to the Atlantic and elsewhere.

Okay, NYT is on the story too! www.nytimes.com...

They don't dare state the real numbers, just reference a Valdez every 4 days. Also good for them for calling out the NOAA and their faulty calculations that have been unchanged since the 28th. (Though damn them for printing lies for 3 weeks!! It has been so frustrating to read their regurgitated reporting. All MSM has been under national security guidelines on this story, which means they report what they are told to report. now they are being told to report on something closer to the truth.) I have made a couple of posts on another thread or two, saying that I
didn't believe that this "spill" didn't really look all that bad. That was after
I saw the first video of a small pipe on the ocean floor (supposedly) that
was blowing out what looked like a small amount of debris that was
mostly just bubbles at first, then black in color and then a mixture, etc.

I now think that this will be the mother of all "leaks". This will undoubtedly
destroy the entire gulf region from Mexico to Florida and then up around
the east coast of the US. Then I believe it will spread out to the Atlantic
and start drifting around the world eventually.

This makes me sick to see what has already happened in the Gulf.
I believe all of those folks in the entire Gulf region that rely on the fishing
industry to make a living are screwed, never to recover again. The tourist
business will end, the pristine shores and plant life will be nothing but
oil soaked garbage. The fish will die off, porpoises, turtles, shrimp,
birds, everything will be destroyed. And the SOB's that caused this will
go on with life drilling somewhere else, fattening their bank accounts, and
not give a crap about what they have created. All in the idea of making
even more money by screwing the world and it's inhabitants.

Whats different about the NYT is they link the cover up with the government which is different than just the coast guard. Then BP has the balls to say there is no way to measure it when all the equipment is already in place that could do that precisely. Government+BP=same.

“The government and BP are calling the shots, so I will have to respect their judgment,” Dr. Camilli said.

No, Dr. Camilli, we cannot respect their judgement imo.

Who knows what will happen.

I just hope that organic substance for oil cleanup is used soon.

It was mentioned in another thread.

The only people surprised by this 'revelation' are those who truly think that ANYONE was going to tell us the truth on their own.

From the first day they've had video of this 'event' and did not release it.

I would wager they've known of the volume of oil being released from the start.

In fact, I would find it hard to believe that the engineering studies and reports one would expect to be done BEFORE ever being approved to drill should have been available to the government all along; these studies certainly could have given them a good idea of the magnitude of the oil flow.

I wonder what proportions of 'measures' they have been taking thus far? I mean have they been actually reacting to this spill as if it were one tenth it's real magnitude and using a tenth of the necessary chemical detergents, etc... just how cheap are these people?

The funny thing is, the people who actually approve this stuff don't live anywhere near where this happened, and probably aspire to retire from government service some day and work for an oil company as an executive... funny that...

We need to define 'profit' for these people. They seem to think infinity is their monetary goal... how reasonable is that?

Just noticed the news... Here's an interesting twist too:

SABOTAGE: Did Halliburton lay waste to Gulf Rig with explosives?

www.abovetopsecret.com...

There's another oil rig worker that cites 4 people from a regulatory agency being present just 2-3 hours before it exploded.

I have a friend working for the EPA and that person told me that things were many times worse than what the official numbers are showing. That person didn't go into detail about the exact amount, but this information confirms what "insiders" have known all along.

If this doesn't anger you, you are completely disconnected with reality. For anyone to say, like some have posted on this board, that it's only a leak and happens all the time. Should be forced to go and drink every drop of this leaking oil.
