Ever since the advent of gene-splicing, social experts have been preparing possible legislative ways to avoid "genetic jingoism". I've been seeing similar reports for quite a few years...In other words, this isn't really "news" to me...

I would say that Gattica is pretty close to future uses of genetics. Personally, I hope the message in Gattica isn't lost on future generations... While we can play with the genetics all we want, only nature herself is capable of evolving those genes...(at least at this stage of the game)....
