You gotta see this..

It's up to you to keep America safe! If you see something suspicious, Snap it! If you see someone who doesn't belong, Snap it! Not sure if someone or something is suspicious? Snap it anyway!

At a glace is seems like a harmless idea for kids to report crime. But look closer.

Want to earn tons of cool badges and prizes while competing with you friends to see who can be the best American? Download the SnapScouts app for your Android phone (iPhone app coming soon) and get started patrolling your neighborhood.

I don't usually repeat myself but...

Not sure if someone or something is suspicious? Snap it anyway!

snapscouts.org

Really? They are telling your kids to send them pictures of basically ANY activity around you, then send it to the authorities! Now if this wasn't bad enough. When you go to the FAQ page you get this:

Q: So who's making money off this?
A: In short, no one. MiniTru, LLC. is a non-profit organization created to find modern solutions to the timeless threats to democracy and freedom. We are funded by a variety of organizations, including but not limited to CCTV UK, Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, XE, and the Centre for Defence and International Security Studies.

I don't like this at all. Check out one of the testimonials.

Makes me go HMmmmm.
My gut feeling is that big brother wants little brother to help out.
Although, some of the contributing organizations are very active in national defense, something about this, indoctrination of children, makes the hair on my neck raise.

Me too, this really smells rotten to me. Check this out in the FAQ

Q: Should I be concerned if my child is taking pictures of me?
A: Only if you have something to hide!

I think its a good idea gone a little far.

Its great to teach children about being aware of their surroundings.

It reminds me of the U-Boob video of those children dressed up in quasi-military uniforms, wriggling in to a room to chant their praise for a president.
This seems to be a little more...nefarious.

I think your right, sort of. I think it is a scandelous idea with the front of a good idea.

Sign me up!

We can get the repeat offenders in a facial recognition program and eventually they will learn their lesson.

As citizens we should be more proactive in these things. Here in the south we all look out for each other, but we are in a small town. The police/authorities can not be everywhere all the time so this is a good idea.

BUT. They should not encourage children to be doing this... Some of these suspicious people will not have a problem with hurting them, and taking their pic is just the trigger to set them off.

There used to be something similar here in the UK when I was a child. One of the boys in our street used to take part, and what he would do, is write down the car license plate numbers of every car that came down the street, every car that parked, where they parked, and for how long. I don't know how widely that was done across the country, but it was kind of creepy. Apparently you can get paid for doing that kind of work, it reminds me of the East German Stasi, where some crazy amount, like 1 in 3 citizens was spying on their neighbours.

On a not completely un-related note:

What would be the effect of thousands, possibly millions of people joining the snap scouts and then only sending in pictures of our junk (genitals)?

Just overwhelm them with horrible images until they call it quits.

Anyone who lets their kids do this should be beaten and possibly shot.

Police cant keep up with all of the domestic people tearing our country down. This is a great way for neighborhoods to crack down on people who are acting oddly. Putting up socialist banners or possibly even handing out pamphlets. Targeting these individuals is the first step to removing them and making our country a better place. Now that obama is president, all his supporters are buying guns to take over america, its time we lock all of these people up to make room for real patriots who believe in freedom and our founding fathers.

I believe in freedom and dont forget in the upcoming election to elect freedom loving people not freedom hating people to offices. Its time for CHANGE, its time we vote for freedom and not liberal socialists who hate america and spit on our flag. The only thing more dangerous then someone who hates america is someone who hates america and owns a gun! lets get rid of them first!

Wow, just wow. I can't believe this.

While in High Scool, we read 1984, which I always thought was a great, yet creepy book, but never worried that the contents of it would ever come to fruition...at least in my lifetime.

This program is almost verbatim of what was described in the book.

We are entering "The Ministry of Love". Just remember, where you go when you get to the Ministry of Love, Room 101

Don't knee-jerk on this m8. Read it slowly.

What IF the little Hitler Youth Snap a pic of YOU doing something deemed
Odd or Suspicous. Should we then put You on the cattle car.

Who is the one's too decide what is "proper".

This can , and will only go badly.

I am a true patriot and I am not worried. what we need to do is protect our children from these criminals and unamerican people who are buying guns stocking up so to speak. these kinds of people are unhappy and must be taken away before they have a psychotic break with reality. If a person is not doing anything wrong then they have nothing to worry about. Like me, I live the american dream. However if their hell bent on spitting on the american way of life, then its a simple matter to link their internet activity to gun registrations to know where we need to strike first should they strike out against the upper classes or our beloved government that protects us. Then again there are those who support non republicans who are unamerican and we need to stop these people first from casting votes against the american way of life.

Ahh, now your point of View is clearer.

All NON Republican's should be cast out of the country because they are

Not Real American's.

So your saying buying guns and stocking up on ammo and food is un-American?

Then couple that with visiting ATS, or other sites.. and we're all looney un-American dissenters?

I don't quite know what to say to you on that.. I think your misguided in your ideals of what is un-American.

So basically what you're saying, is that anyone who disagrees with you, should have no rights or say in politics whatsoever.

Just curious, when I turned the age to vote, I registered republican, but my views have since changed, and I don't affiliate with any party now, should I be stopped from casting my vote?

And just fyi, in your decision making regarding my question, I DO question my government, and I DO own firearms.
