Russia may help build a nuclear power plant in Syria, Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko told Reuters on Tuesday as the Kremlin moved to strengthen ties with a Soviet-era ally in the Middle East.

On the first state visit to Syria by a Kremlin chief since the Bolshevik Revolution, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev played up prospects for nuclear power cooperation and said Washington should work harder for peace in the Middle East.

"Cooperation on atomic energy could get a second wind," Medvedev said at a news conference with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad after their talks.

Russia obviously likes to mess with the political instability of the region. They build plants in Iran. Now they may be doing the same with Syria? Do they not see the mess Iran is in with all these calls for sanctions?

World War is pending right now. Israel is obviously calling for it.

Check out this article that was posted this morning involving Syria.

Israel says N.Korea shipping WMDs to Syria

Evidently, if Russia goes ahead with "studying this question" of whether or not its going to build a plant in Syria, I would not be suprised if Israel begins taking knocks at Russia. Israel has begun clearly stating its enemies and drawing the lines of war. Which side of the line Russia chooses could depend on what it does with Syria.

There is no mess it's all rhetoric. These sanctions are based on nothing. Russia is doing what we should be doing. We're obligated to build the plants by law and assist countries wanting peaceful nuclear power to obtain it, while stopping the proliferation of nuclear weapons.

If we'd gone in and given the Iranians a plant like we're doing with the Saudi's it wouldn't be an issue. We can hardly point fingers at Russia for doing something wrong when we're the ones that are in the wrong and Russia is doing what is right.

Everyone has a right to access clean safe nuclear power for civilian use. But they don't have the right to spread nuclear weapons.

Nuclear energy has the potential to be used to create nuclear arms. Really, I don't trust any government, except maybe for good old Canada, with nuclear energy. Any country can abuse it.

I hope Russia's decisions a) don't allow for any Middle Eastern country to abuse this power b) don't set off WW3.
