Dispite the tense relationship between the US and North Korea, the United States proposed to withdraw one-third of it's troops in the Korean region by 2006. 3,600 of those will most likely be redeployed to Iraq. The reduction is needed for a world-wide modernisation to make the US military more flexible.

"US officials told us last night that under their Global Defence Posture Review they are planning to reduce the number of U.S. troops here by 12,500 by the end of December 2005," said Kim Sook, head of the South Korea Foreign Ministry's North America bureau.

It says its commitment to defend the South will not be affected and the use of longer range weapons and better technology will compensate for the reduction in numbers.

South Korea's President Roh Moo-hyun - who favours less dependence on US forces - has also tried to dispel fears over security.

"The concepts of self-defence and an alliance (with the US) can complement each other," he said in a televised speech on Sunday for the country's Memorial Day for war dead.

Dude, the US government and the Pentagon were taken over by shape-shifting reptilians long ago.
They're just biding their time until they have complete control - then they will reveal their true form.

This just in... NO OIL DISCOVERED ON KOREAN PENINSULA!

The decades long South Korean humanitarian mission declared "fruitless" and reevaluated.

Experts decide democracy unnecessary in North Korea and proclaim Kim Jong-il "Okie-dokie" for hoarding WMD's.

In a related story, China breathes huge sigh of relief and gets back to the business of undermining the US labor pool.

Nothing to see here. Pay no attention to the news. Did you hear?

Reagen died!

Our Military is overextended. Troop rotation in Iraq requires a pool of trained soldiers that just does not exist. Rather than reinstate the draft, The Military has been borrowing troops from other Theaters. Simple equation.

Regardless of my opinion of the Iraq War, I support National Service. Two years in the Military immediately following High School, or Two years in Americorps.

Oh...I was just wondering why they didn't just take over control right now, seeing how they have control of the government and the Pentagon and all that?
