Any bigot who hated Mexicans before didn't need an Arizona law to justify their twisted sentiments. Bigotry and racism isn't new to any part of North America and that includes Mexico which has just a much of a problem with discrimination as any other place. More so than some, since the government there fails to protect immigrants (particularly illegal ones) from systematic forms of extreme abuse and murder at the hands of its officials.

I think there is a difference though, between most of the people you and I mention and those that have a problem with illegal-immigrants coming to this country from Mexico, exploiting the system and in some cases spreading the gang/drug violence problem Mexico has across the border.

A porous border is never a good idea, as fleeing career criminals or those with serious criminal history get a fresh start in your backyard unmonitored.

Situations like the suspension of students wearing American flags, or attacking people who wave them other further inflame the situation.

You guys are so much fun.

What guys?

still all bent out of shape that we kicked your red coats back across the Atlantic and told the Crown to take your taxs and shove it.

Here's my problem, if you are going to visit, live, or work in a country, learn its culture, and respect their laws, and rules. But don't go there expecting to push your countries beliefs or cultures on others, its not right, I don't feel bad for the americans who visit other countries, and get jailed or beaten for breaking their rules or disrespecting their culture, do some research and be respectful

somebody buy the guy who took the flag a drink.

A big contradiction I seen in the video was the fact that the Mexican kid knocked down the flag, then the next Mexican kid says "This is a free country, I'm allowed to be here"(paraphrase).

Why knock down the flag just to have the guy protesting next to you claim this is a free country?

The problem I see with mingling every culture into the boiling pot is the crime that it comes with. The Mexicans have a pretty big population within the US and it continues to climb. The MS-13 gang is growing and it is emerging as a killing machine.

I understand that this is the world now and many here are embracing a totalitarian view to better society. But the fact is that there will be much trouble if the country keeps letting refugees in. These refugees purchase houses within their own communities. Those communities become a haven for gang recruitment to offer protection, money, and role models.

This is the main reason why racial violence is emerging in the US. You have separate communities living within each others' vicinity.

Ohh i thought i would point out that i know Brisbane is in Australia...and has your goverment thought of packing up shop and handing the land back over to the aboriginies...

Back in those days , it wasn't so much 'Americans' against the British , it was British Colonists against the British. There was a case of an 'american' ship arriving on the coast of Cornwall and the town being raided . They knew where to land and what to raid, the commander of the ship was born there.

Well, it should have been clear for you before, but I'll give you some help.

The ones who knocked down the flag, the ones who taunted them using the flag.

As far as I know, the government don't allow illegals at schools. Which means they are americans. US CITIZENS.

And they were being hostilized because their parents moved to the US trying to give them a good life, but not forgetting where they came from in the first place.

So, in your view, Italians, Jews, and all of the immigrants that gave strength to the country should be hostilized too?

Well, at least that old Guns N Roses song is coming back in fashion.

"You people?"

What exactly do you know about me or what I feel?
Learn not to make broad judgments from a place of ignorance.

I read your full post and the reason you claimed people are upset over this video is because the guy committing assault or battery on the man in the truck is Hispanic.

many here who are hostile to what happened in this video aren't upset because of what the individual did, but because he was of hispanic descent and did it.
You are upset with that the man looks Hispanic.

*my edits

Another broad generalization from you repeated twice in one paragraph that wasn't hard to miss.

I reject that unfounded claim since you have no evidence of it and seek to lump anyone who disagrees with this action as a bigot when that is not the case. Something you failed to understand when I explained in my post there were other factors and options rather than your own narrow one and the actions of the student were out of line. Not only that, they help build the case for the people who DO hate Mexicans based simply on their skin and believe them all to be anti-American.

Even one of the Hispanics there with the student said so in the video but what she and I are saying is clearly over your head.

You also seem full of racial judgments yourself since you've already decided I am a white Hispanic-hating bigot, so you really aren't in a position to talk about such things.

Are we really (turning on one another)? Or does it just look that way because some political manipulators & outside agitators came in here to promote amnesty- Obama's & the New Democrats' (socialists AKA globalists) next big thing. They've been doing this all over the internet since, at least, last Summer with HCR.

Never mind unemployment figures, or the rip off that continues, unabated, by Wall Street or the bankers. Never mind the health insurance/ PhRma BAILOUT that they were going to "fix". Or the outrageous corruption that is playing out right in front of our faces. Or American lives & money flowing down the toilet because of the aggressions overseas. Remaking America into the socialist democrat's FANTASY is ALL that matters. Everything else; America, can go to hell. This is that CHANGE the Anointed One promised in the Big Dupe (otherwise known as the campaign).

We're being played, all right, but not in the way that it is being portrayed. This is just a tactic to cool the fires they, themselves, started.

You don't see the problem? Are you serious?

This is the united states you can be proud to be a mexican but if you want to be in america you also have to respect america and it's tradition.

These "mexican-americans" are just as ignorant as the dingbats in the truck who interupted their rally.

American kids get suspended for wearing american flag clothing, because it was supposedly disrespectful. Yet these "mexican-americans" that want respect for their nationality have the nerve to slap the flag to ground. They want respect at the price of our traditions.

The nerve of these people aswell as the faculty that suspended the american students is dispicable.

We let these people come here and we bend over backwards to accomodate them and their traditions. Yet these people and many like them don't want to return that respect.

I'm disgusted by the lack of give from many (not all) of the hispanic community. This is America not Mexico, and that is the problem with this. The American flag should be honored on American soil.

Those students all shouting we're mexican americans is crap. If they truely considered themselves "American" then they would show equal respect to our heritage and traditions, but they did not.

America is losing itself because we no longer have pride in our country. Political correctness and the lack of American spirit is robbing this country of it's own heritage.

Since when did it become a punishable offense to be a proud American?

Immigrants want all these concessions to be made without having to make any themselves.

It's time to stop demonizing people for having pride in being American. National pride is a thing of importance to every nation. Why do we as Americans have to be the exception?

It's a classic move. DIVIDE AND CONQUER.

I see strings being pulled and people dancing to them better than Michael Jackson.

I made no claim to your ethnicity, the only claim I made was most of the individuals who have a problem with what this individual did are nothing more than racists. Due to your animosity to what I said, I felt the truth stung you a little bit and decided to lump you in that category.

And lets get at your logic a bit here. Because a hispanic looking woman makes a comment about a hispanic looking male, that somehow validates anything you have to say? The fact that you are bringing race into your argument further solidifies my position.

You could imagine a situation in the future where there would be a hospitable planet , full of resources , that the americans decided to colonize . And draw from it it's resources . They would send people to populate it . Over time, the people on that planet came to the decision that they would rather keep the planet and the resources for themselves . The americans decide that this is not a favourable situation and go to war with the people of this planet and then lose that war, fighting against former americans and others. The planets inhabitants decree themselves independent and hold independence day celebrations of the day they defeated the evil americans.

Yeah i'm sorry but what is your point exactly? Why do you value a piece of cloth? Someone could burn the flag it doesn't mean they hate the country. For example someone could burn the flag in protest over what the country has become.

This extreme nationalism needs to stop, the idea you cannot damage a piece of fluttering material is stupid.

The oddest thing is you hate someone doing this, even those the constitution gives them the right to do this and protects their freedom. If you truly believed in your countries foundations you would support this individuals rights to do this. Of course you also have the right to complain about it.

MS13 has grown to incorporate a majority of the hispanic community, but it started with youth from latin america, not Mexico. They saw first hand about gurilla warfare at its worst and learned those lessons to turn out to be one of the more violent gangs in the North and Latin America.
I think the thing that the students that were doing the protest and rally need to understand that as much as it is their right to protest, it is the right of people to counter protest and rally against the issues they are protesting for, and words will get heated.
I believe there was a post that best describes what the general feeling is, we are tired of being forced to accept everyone elses culture, and living in the shadows, fearing that if we speak out and say we are proud of our own culture, we are labled racists and haters. I believe that both sides need to back down and cool off, that way there can be a happy meeting point and cooler heads can prevail.

Me, too.

It's amazing to me that people who are supposedly in the forefront of being aware of how the media is manipulating us, seem to TOTALLY buy into the race wars that the media is pushing. It's totally stupid!

Hey ATSers! If you think the media is manipulating you, YOU'RE RIGHT! This thread is a perfect example. Congratulations for being totally manipulated!

I'm quoting you because it needs to be posted a couple of times in order that it does not get looked over in this giant mess of a thread. Emphasis is mine.

These people are totally falling for it. The tension is building because THEY want it to. People in this thread that support the OP's line of thinking are simply tools. The only reason there is a problem with illegal immigration is the government LETTING IT HAPPEN and the employers GIVING THEM JOBS.

You really need to aim your anger elsewhere and it sure as heck isn't at people like those in this video.

I'm pleased to see that we have others on this board to see beyond the manipulation that is obvious to my self and a few others that is taking place every day in the media. Geez....baaaaaah, sheeple much ATS?
