I too find the political bickering to be tiresome. I long ago determined that I wouldn't dedicate much of any of my precious time and energy to main steam politics and bickering about them.

And also to get back as to why I find ATS interesting and why I came here in the first place.

I came to ATS to share my interests in things such as the science and the paranormal as well as alternative news.

With politics being of the mainstream status quo, they weren't of much interest to me for I realized that they were in place to keep feeble minds bickering with one another.

Hence why we have only 2 parties and also why I am a Libertarian.

I pointed out long ago that the politicians didn't matter and hence why I refuse to debate about the differences between Obama and Bush for example.

Simply because they are all answering to someone, and that someone is the same individuals that the last president answered to. As well as the one before that.

So bickering about this and that is really a waste of my time as far as I am concerned.

Telling people to wake up is part of the solution because living with blinders on, aka ignorance, is part of the entire problem.
People need to remove the blinders and understand how they are being screwed by politics.

Life is too short....and all in all, I should be out riding my mountainbike or motorcycle on some nice singletrack or curvy back roads anyway !!

Politics might be interesting.

Without all the Propaganda.

So what's the point? Why waste time any longer?

Yes, the point would be interesting to find. My father is a big politics talker, and I generally can't stand the conversations. He's a Republican, and I am generally Libertarian, so I have a hard time with the 2-party bashing, and at just about every family get-together we've had, I have repeated the same words: "What's the point?"

We all know no one is going to suddenly say, "Holy Cow! I was incredibly wrong all this time! Thank you!"

The only thing I've seen come from a conversation like that is an escalation of fury, like a bomb that blows all logic, rational thinking, and civility out of the arena.

There must be something addictive in the righteous indignation some people seem to feel when screaming their point of view over and over again at 'the enemy' in slightly different (and generally more nasty) wording.

Well, either way, I'm sure your wife and child will be thrilled with your new free time if you decide to leave ATS, and all your pals here on ATS will be thrilled if you decide to stay. If you do leave, hopefully something more fulfilling to you will take the place of the time spent posting! (Listen to me say that, knowing full well I have some of the most intense exams I've yet faced coming up in a week, yet instead of studying, I'm on ATS. Ha!)

Well here in the UK we have had tons and tons of political discussion, the last three days alone have been nearly 24 hour coverage. I'm not sick of politics, i'm just sick of the political system we have.

Maybe i'm wrong but it's possible you are annoyed because the system is stagnant and you recognise the obvious problems with it. I know you are not in the UK but in the end the situations are similar.

Finally. Thanks for saying it..!

For all the back and forth, politics remains the same. Boring, predictable and dull. How does the word conform to the meaning of "ATS" - It doesn't.

Politics would be interesting if we would quit taking sides, and join forces, to expose them.

Honestly, I cannot think of one politician I would vote for.

But most of all, I'm tired of politics.

And even now...for as bad as it has become...WE STILL CAN'T AGREE or come to a consensus on most issues.

So what's the point? Why waste time any longer?

POLITICS IS PERSONALITY.
Each political party represents a personality type.
Democrat-altruist,Republican-predator,Libertarian-independent.

Since people (erroneously) identify themselves with their thinking
mind an attack on their ideas is taken as an attack on themselves.

Thus all Political discussions do is reinforce the others beliefs.

Each Personality type represents a limited point of view and makes
no more sense than a person claiming to be a right handed political
person versus a left handed political person.
People need to understand and transcend such limited views.

Just wanted to say thank you for all the incredibly nice replies and it's comforting to see that many of you have also been to the point where I am now.

In the year and a half I've been posting here, I've learned pretty much all the arguments from most political angles.

I often know exactly what I kind of response I will get from people who don't agree with what I've stated before they have even posted...and when that happens...I find myself repeating the same thing I have countless time already.

As someone stated earlier in this thread...they had been called many names politically. I have as well....in fact...I think I ahve them all covered as someone recently called me a Statist.

I think that finished the checklist.....and i can add that to Libertarian, Conservative, Neo-con, Liberal, Progressive, Progressive Conservative, Communist, Socialist, Fascist, etc. I've even been accused of posting for money or for an "agenda."

That is mostly because I have kept myself from falling into the one-sided argument that so many here do.

Anyway, I'm going to lay low for awhile and rest my noggin and see what happens. Again, thank you so much for the replies....means a lot.

All the best of luck to you and your families in these unsure times....let's hope we make it through this all healthy and SANE.

I am trackin' David9176. If it's getting to you and you are burnt out, there is no sin in taking a break or riding off into the sunset. You have already done more than 90% of Americans do when they are upset with their country - nothing. If your posts have stirred the pot, got other people thinking, and made them articulate their views - congrats. That is more the MSM does on any given day.

Just remember the highest mountains are just piles of small rocks.

Chillin' is cool - I did it for 5 years.

This place is just a semi-fun way of expressing yourself and wasting time. Occasionally you'll learn or teach something half-cool.

See you round the traps.

Yeah, come to think of it maybe I should take a break also. Besides there are other matters that I should attend to, open source stuff. Okay David, good luck to you and your family.
