Just breaking, just off the coast of Indonesia... hopefully it doesn't create a tsunami or destroy buildings...

The earth sure is shaking a lot these days... I'm pretty sure the average big earthquakes for a year has been already broken...

Let's hope everyone is safe.

I will never forget that tsunami. Unfortunately it was on my birthday.

I am amazed at how few realize the number of lives lost that day. The vast amount of videos of that horror still play over in my mind.

More than 220,000 people died that day. 220,000. I always compare it to 911. There really is no comparison....this is why I get sick of hearing about it. Mother nature snubs her nose at our own pettiness. It just doesn't compare to her raw power.

The site is very close to that of the 2004 earthquake that triggered the Indian Ocean tsunami, which killed about 220,000 people.

Currently there is a local watch in effect, so any tsunamis should be contained within the Indonesia area.

Hopefully they won't be of a destructive size/force.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said that while no widespread threat of tsunami existed, there was a possibility of a local tsunami, no more than 100 kilometers from the quake's epicenter. "Authorities for the region near the epicenter should be aware of this possibility," said the warning center. "Areas further from the epicenter could experience small sea level changes and strong or unusual coastal currents," it said.

Here in Los Angeles, California, I wait patiently for ours. Since the 7.2 in Mexicali last month, the activity has increased tenfold. Today, there were a few more significant quakes above a 4 magnitude: 4.1, 4.3, 4.7, and one 5.0. That's not to mention the thousand or so that has happened since the 7.2 last month. Our fault lines here are waking up in a groggy way. I get email alerts from around the world as soon as earthquakes happen, and I saw this one and my heart dropped yet again. Indonesia is in my thoughts and prayers. Hope all well.

Yeah it seems like every time a CME goes off, a few days later we have some type of tectonic activity.

It very well could be a coincidence, but this stuff has been ongoing for a long time now.

Just heard the latest. Indonesia's northern province struck was Aceh, which lays near the tectonic plates. A 7.2, but MIRACULOUSLY, no one was hurt or structures damaged!

Your prayers had helped! from the religious of all faiths, the spiritualists, and the free thinkers who thought well of Gaia.

In 2004, a 7.8 struck the same area -168,000 people died, and another 60,000 perished within the vicinity of the quake.....
