The most common phrase of an uni graduate in the arts. (mind you it would be hady as a poster here)

Studying ARTS at uni is a waste of time - financually...

education.guardian.co.uk...

One of the bitterest and most time-worn debates in student union bars up and down the country is resolved today as academic research confirms that in financial terms at least, arts degrees are a complete waste of time.

Getting through university boosts student's earnings by 25%, on a weighted average, or 220,000 over their lifetime, according to Professor Ian Walker of Warwick University - but if they study Proust or the peasants' revolt instead of anatomy or contract law, those gains are likely to be completely wiped out.

As someone who has a B.A. in Psychology and is working on a Master's in History, all I can say is
. Study what you like. Having a job that makes you happy is better than having a lucrative career that you hate and dying of a massive coronary at 45 due to stress.

But still a depressing article.

...But then you have to consider *why* things are the way they are.

Arts are socially repressed as a career because the most lucrative professions taught in universities are those courses that *teach you how to work to make your boss rich* instead of teaching you how to start your *own* business to make yourself rich.

Artists want to work on their own terms...MBA's seek to work on the terms that their bosses lay out for them.

...So who is more free-willed? What better way to quench the desire for *being* free-willed by financially supressing those who *are* free-willed?

Actually, art is one of those few subjects, worth taking up in a university/college.
Everything else is a waste of mind.
