I guess they see a need for more slave wage dependent type earners in the future than they do us independent wish we could hold our own types.....
I've had dreams of those riots that are happening in Greece now, and will more than likely be here very soon....for close to 30 years, wrote letters to the gov't spent lots of time on boards like this at least trying to tell people!!
well, we're here now!! fun isn't it!

it was all fine and dandy as long as the have alots had the middle class to suck money from to pay for all those handouts for their low wage workforce, but now that they've about decimated the middle class, they are finding out that there is only them to pay for it....the pampered slaves, unfortunately, are gonna discover that they are indeed, only slaves....and the kind treatment is gonna evaporate I am afraid.
If I was one of those single moms, or the father of their child....I would be doing all I could to get that family back together, and doing all I could to get it self sufficient....
the alternative isn't gonna be a pretty site.

yea...

your.... OP is distasteful.

I am unemployment. I earned my unemployment by slaving away at my job until the market crashed. I would of had a job if those who were in control of the banks would of managed their finances wisely instead of wrecklessly.

screw you!

EDIT: and your a silver member? You call your self an ATS member...

what a shame.

I may be harsh but in my mind IF YOU DON'T PAY TAX, YOU DONT VOTE

I'm in the same boat as you Goethe. After working for 30 years a mass appeared in my spinal cord and everything from my chest down started to go numb. They cut the backs of 4 verterbrae off in my neck to alleviate the swelling but it failed to help. I have been in constant pain for almost 3 years now and only recently got on SS disability. I don't WANT to be a welfare case but I cannot do any kind of activity for much more than an hour. There are no jobs that I could perform and I'm not picky. I was a well paid artisan before my illness but I would gladly clean floors if I could. The boredom of being at home 24/7 is incredible.
IF you have your health, be glad. Things could be far worse and then who would ask for help? In your fantasy land I suppose you would just have to go curl up and die somewhere.
I take it you are young and have never had serious health issues. Count your blessings friend

Can you live on less than $12,000 a year? My drugs alone cost me over $400 a month, forget any doctor visits or exams. Now I have to wait for Medicare to kick in so I can get a brain tumor removed before it takes my hearing away. Oh. what a grand life of luxury I live!

This is the epotome of an epic troll thread. There is absolutey nothing to back up the claims of the OP. Dear ATS'ers, don't get upset at this young teenage burger flipper. He doesn't know any better or much of anything really. Our tax base could not support 100 million people on welfare.

There are five million people currently collectiong welfare checks. Out of over 300 million americans, I would say that is a low percentile.

People receiving retirement checks for SSA paid into the system and deserve their checks.

We have a government that actually takes care of its disabled population through SSDI.

We have a government and many social organizations that see we do not starve.

Our government isn't so bad afterall. We set up social programs for a reason. To ensure that people don't starve and give a hand up too many in short term need to become productive members of society.

Google the statistics. The OP's are so off base. OP, get your act together.

Why do you think eveything costs so much?

The vast portion of every product or service that is produced gets paid into the welfare / warfare system to support those that support it.

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/bc325e55938f.gif[/atsimg]

It's 100 million when you include retirees, government workers and others who recieve government pensions.

THe system never improves it just gets worse as the living (The healthy ones) leeches and vampires figure out how to make money off of it.

Who paid for the 1st generation that went on social security?

THe system has only worked so far because thier were more young healthy people who were paying into the ponzi scheme than there were collecting from the scheme.

The population is aging so there are less young and healthy people paying into the system than before. And you can't count the illegal aliens because they don't pay into the system.

People may have payed into the social security system. However that money was already spent to cover the elderly of thier day. The new money that is being used for social security and medicare comes from those who work today.

How about all the other hundreds of taxes that we pay?

Where does all that go?

Does anyone really know?

Someone said the original poster is an ass... and you are right

But There are many many people taking advantage of the system. But for people who need assistance... thank God it is there... I have nothing against you at all... But for one example my mother works with a women who refuses to work more than 18 hours at her job... even tho she could work 40+ for the over time but she wont because if she does she loses the free money from the government... Even tho if she worked a 40+ hour week she would have way more money in her pocket...

It all comes down to some people being to damn lazy to help themselves.. They are more than able to... and they have the means to but why would they when they keep getting it for free without any work?

When I used to shop at walmart I seen people all the time buying food with food stamps... No problem there but after they pay for the food they plop 50-100 dollars of alchohol on the counter and pay with cash... I can't do that... because the extra money that I would have had is in their pocket allowing them to do it....

Again there are people who truly need to be on welfare or goverment assistance... especially if you have already paid into the system.... But there are a whole lot of people who need to be pulled off of uncle sams tit and learn to grow up and start acting like adults!

Yes, and they should cut people like that off right away. Those people are taking money away from those who really need it. If someone could prove that person was very able to work, they should be turned in. They are the ones who make it hard for those who can`t work to get the aid they need. They drain the system.

I raised my kids in NY, very liberal state, will take care of you pretty well, if you qualify.....
unfortunately, there were many I knew that didn't qualify, and well, I and them it very, very difficult to live on what we earned....
we went without many of the "necessities" that the state was giving out!
I'll tell ya something, I can think of alot of couples I knew that broke uo mainly because they found it impossible to make it any other way!!
so, well, if mom and dad can't make it on their earning potential while living under the same roof, umm....
what makes you think that they can support two households???

As someone who has been trying to find a decent hired hand for over 2 years, I can tell you that most of the people who are unemployed are actually not worthy of employment.

Most of what I have found falls into 3 categories:

1) Gangsta-wannabe or skater-wannabe pretend rebels who live at "mamamahah" (translation: My mama's house)

2) People who consider themselves "business people" because they polished a chair and answered the phone (even though they have never actually started or owned a business), and thus believe they are above manual labor

3) Lazy people with a sense of entitlement, who show up, barely work, and then wonder why I fire them on the first day

I keep reading about 15 to 20 percent unemployment, and I believe probably 10% of people in the workforce were on the verge of being unemployable but the demand for warm bodies in factories/offices/cookie-cutter-jobs was so great that even stupid, unmotivated parasites could find work.

ummm...ya, I got two adult males living in my household...
they have worked much more than they have been unemployed since graduation.
don't knock kids who are home with mama and dad, in the great depression, it could take 6 or more people working 40 hours to support a family! the sad fact is, at this point in time, many of these kids aren't making enough to live on their own comfortably, and well, mom and dad aren't doing so hot either! if we still had that extended family structure, our problem now would be more easily solved than it is!
I suppose you would prefer that they move in with girlfriend, get her pregnant, then not only would that kid not be able to support himself, but also have a women and child to take of also?
I am dismayed at the work ethic of many of the young people myself, and I can't for the life of me figure out why some of them would want to tatoo their body and pierce weird body parts, and then still expect to find a decent job!!
but, at the same time, many of these young people have alot to be dismayed about us also!! the world we are leaving them is crap!!!

How many people would you guess are on the receiving end of government redistribution programs today?

Just for kicks we won't limit answers to America only.

If I had to guess I would say that at least 100 million people in America are now receiving some sort of government assistance (Disability, Social Security, Medicare, Unemployment, Food Stamps, Independant States assistance programs, Bailout reciepiants, Banks, Wall street investment firms, Corporate lobbiests, etc).

We should enter a new discussion on whether or not welfare receipiants should forfeit thier constitutional rights once they choose to accept government assistance.

Well you could say the blame rests on your shoulders as well as most of the country for voting the idiots that have made these welfare programs available in the first place, also many people are to blame for creating the demand for it. The list goes on forever and points right back in your face as the cause.
If you say "I didn't do any of these things" also still to blame, because your lack of action to stop these politicians and continue voting for these idiots.
And these politicians you didn't stop have been playing you for fools since the great depression and before.
I remember when the Japanese president proclaimed many years ago on global news that Americans were fat and lazy, remember this? I laughed so hard because I knew it was true.
Do you really think the PTB would respect a bunch of irresponsible, fat and lazy Americans all wanting handouts?
For proof I offer you how Obama and Bush have treated Americans with their destructive abuse of our economies and our troops, and the only people getting rich from it is bankers and corporations.

1. The question is a fair one.

I'm guessing 87 million.

2. A welfare system in and of itself is not a bad thing.

Abuses of the current system in this country are rampant and should be mitigated... Somehow.

In my opinion, people like Goethe are what the system is for. When I left my abusive husband at 19 with a two year old child and went to college, I used public assistance for the first year. That is what the system is for.

The degenerates spitting out children to get a bigger check to support their meth habit are not what the system is for. See the difference?

A safety net is for the deserving, and should be utilized responsibly.

3.Your demeanor is offensive.

Certainly intentionally so; mostly to troll a bit and get some attention. So.... Now is your moment. Congratulations. I have no doubt you are enjoying yourself immensely, and I'm glad for the opportunity to contribute to your angsty-happiness. And fun is had by all... No doubt.

Swapping 'money for silence' is tyranny. Also, I suspect that your hard-line dedication to social darwinism would quickly change into entitled whining if you found yourself in need. (Just my opinion, since you seem to value the freedom to express it.)

Seriously, OP. What are you thinkin? I am also appalled that you would make such a suggestion. I would take care. God/ the Universe/ whatever has a way of bringing understanding that you might not enjoy learning.
It is one thing to take steps to insure that no fraud occurs. It is quite another to be...damn. I dunno how to even define it.

What is with including other countries? What business is that of ours?
You lost me entirely with the notion of taking people's (I am assuming you mean those who are disabled, veterans and seniors) rights simply because their circumstances- through no doing of their own or occurring naturally, warrant assistance. In the case of veterans, I think their service deserves this, and actually, I would add law enforcement & firefighters for the same reason.

I lost a job and had to live in a shelter for 2 months because I lost my housing. I was there temporarily because I busted my ass finding the next person that would hire me. I've done everything from take care of horses to scrubbing public toilets just to scrape by while not sitting on my ass waiting for a white collar job to kiss me on the face because I feel I am entitled to it because I have a BA degree. I was berated by the other women there because I refused to take food stamps. Only some of the women I met there were as dedicated to looking for a job as I was, most claimed some kind of mental ailment and looked for hand outs. The folks that ran the shelter sat on their butts and provided minimal if NO connections to any employment. Computers hooked up to the internet were just sitting there in the office area totally useless because there wasn't any one to man the computer station. Heck, if they found us all jobs, the shelter workers would be unemployed, our helplessness was feeding their bellys. One woman that resided in the shelter said she was going to take the government for everything she could. I kid you not, with a GLEAM in her eye. HA, HA, she thought she earned it? Oh, sure let me get hit by a bus and then say PAY UP B/C I earned it. No, please just shoot me and put me out of my feaking misery if I am unable to work, to be of assistance in some way. I'll write books or draw if I am a cripple...Screw you all who think you are entitled to NOT WORKING somehow and getting money for free just because you have some kind of ailment. Life sucks, too flipping bad! Work! Be of flipping assistance! This woman at the shelter had some mental health issues but it didn't stop her from getting up in the morning and taking a shower, getting dressed, putting on make up and looking cute, getting in her truck to go visit friends and make it to her therapy groups and visit friends. But wait, she can't work? Hard earned tax dollars are paying for her so called mental ass? Huh? She's got all kinds of government money coming her way. Man, what a life eh? Sure is for them, they are frigging styling compared to the sweating laborer who's here legally getting paid minimum wage and told to shut the hell up because they are, what? Oh, complaining about not getting a raise, and it's been, oh wait, 5 years on the job, and oh wait, the laborer is middle aged - thinking about the American Dream taught to them back in high school???

What the hell is wrong with you all? You have lost your friggen minds!

If anyone of you all collecting disability is on here posting on this forum YOU can work. If you can sheet, shower and shave and blabbidy blab on this forum, YOU can work, including your children!!! If your mamma, your daddy, cousin, whom ever collects, and they are NOT comotose, they can work...there is something they can do...

What we need are JOBS JOBS JOBS...not hand outs, hand outs, hand outs. I see you all coming on here whining about what the OP has posted...you are doing so because of YOUR GUILTY conscious. Find a flipping job and quit letting an illegal who has no intention of EVER becoming a U.S. citizen, work YOUR job.

Then move to another country if you don't like America. God help you if you ever do fall on tough times. I have a feeling you're only a teenager and never experienced the true hardships of life. That doesn't include your parents taking away your allowance of car privileges.

I hope you don't use the post office or any of those other "Socialist Services".

Grow up dude!
