1. I have met women who wear them.. which is exactly how I know it's awkward trying to talk to them.

2. So they really can be forced to wear them? If that is the case yes I think they should be banned.. women in Australia have rights and physically forcing them to dress certain ways would violate those rights.

I personally think it's disgusting that you think it's okay to force women to wear it.. but then again there is a woman in your avatar who is in fact gagged so it shouldn't surprise me. I'm wondering.. is she being prevented from speaking or screaming? I only ask as you claim to care about the rights of muslim women yet you avatar clearly shows one being forcibly silenced.

What boggles my mind is the face covering, not the loose body cloth. I'm talking about the narrow mesh in front of the eyes and the cloth covering the entire face. Thanks for clearing that up. I agree that covering the whole face up is extreme too. Hopefully Muslim women in Australia will feel confident enough to show their faces when out in public. While they are free to practice their religion if they choose, it should not be done so out of fear and coercion.

On a tangent,its not saying much for (fundamentalist) Muslim men's self control if they have to hide the "beauty" of their women folk so as not to tempt others.

If a girl wears a shirt which exposes her breasts, and if I meet her, I would feel awkward also because I would be afraid in honesty I might accidentally look at her breasts instead of her eyes during the conversation.

If a girl is wearing a shirt she's not exposing her breasts.. and most men know there are rules in regards to staring at cleavage. Eye contact is required, a glimpse at her breasts is okay but you're liable to get smacked if you stare for too long. If you cannot handle this maybe you shouldn't be allowed to mix with women who show cleavage.

Another personal attack.. and I wasn't too fond of your description of a porno where women eat feces either. If thats your thing though there's no judgement..

This is a discussion board. I am not required to agree with you and no matter how much you abuse me or try gross me out I never will. Australia is not an islamic country and it will never be under sharia law. If women are being forced to wear the burka then I think that issue should be addressed.

Men who imprison their women in their homes should go to jail for such an act.

It is easy enough for a woman to dress modestly so that she doesn't draw too much attention.

In addition, it is not acceptable in Western cultures to stare at anyone, and that includes beautiful women, unless they are making a spectacle of themselves.

Only the Muslims make their women wear burqas.

The rest of the world gets by fine letting women be women, and dress how they want, only Muslims force this extreme form of dress on their women. It is barbaric.
