Neanderthal survives in some of us!

Breaking news that scientists have found genes in some of us (Homo Sapiens) that are from Neanderthals - i.e. we are part neanderthal. According to the BBC, "the genomes of 1% to 4% of people in Eurasia come from Neanderthals.":

This is breaking news and if I am honest have not been able to digest all the implications:
- Has anything survived through these genes from Neanderthals into our body structure / characteristics?
