Rockhopper Petroleum has just announced that it has struck oil in the north Falklands Basin. Their shares have doubled in minutes.

With the North Sea past its peak, its great to see a brand new massive oilfield off the Falklands that is 100% British!

No wonder Argentina has once again staked it's claim.

I hope that there is no bloodshed this time.

I doubt that England will let it go.

Dear me - how cynical? Oil - bloodshed.

I'm sure that the UK and Argentina went to war last time to protect the sea life and the flora and the natural geology of the islands.... :-)

Related to this post UK Sub in Falklands. I think that they are prepared to make a move if needed.

HMS Sceptre, a Swiftsure Class SSN attack submarine, is being sent from station off Africa to the cold waters of the South Atlantic in an effort to dissuade the Argentinians from taking military action in the tense standoff over oil rights in the seas around the disputed Falkland Islands.
