I wrote a thread,awhile back asking,is teaching children
about religion child abuse?
Now,I want to ask, what are our children allowed to learn?
Do you think learning about our nation's history is important?
Learning the pledge of allegiance, our national anthem...
Should it surprise you ,that these icons of american history,
are considered not appropriate for children to see or learn?

www.citizenlink.org...

Now,I ask you, what is wrong with our country that children
have to be protected from our national icons?

I am not religious. But I know what my nation is founded on.

It is disgusting these teachers did not get fired for trying to take these posters down.

If Freedom of Speech doesn't exist, than we should remove all the other posters from other teachers as well.

If 1 teacher cannot speak, than none should be allowed to.

Good luck teaching the class with a blindfolded, gagged, and tied up teacher. It will only teach kids to be .... blind deaf and dumb.

I hope this guys posters are put back up ASAP.

And the person that started the mess should be FIRED for causing a bunch of trouble over nothing.

I take it, from the lack of response to this thread, that everyone
is ok with the following being inappropriate for our children to learn.

1.The national motto
2.The pledge of allegiance
3.Presidential speeches
4.America the Beautiful
5.Declaration of independence

What is appropriate for our children to learn...

1.Teachings of Ghandi
2.Malcolm X
3.The Dalai Lama
4.Gay pride
5.Stop global warming

So,teaching children about the foundations of our country
is considered inappropriate. What a sick, society we live in for sure!
I wonder how long we will have these freedoms, others have bled and
died for.I don't think it will be much longer.Too many people sleeping
away their freedoms, their voices silent, until it's too late.

America is dying and our citizens don't seem to care. They are more
concerned about the next american idol...then they are of our liberty
and freedoms.

I appeal to all patriots that we don't let this happen.I know that we
have separation of church and state. Our children still need to learn
about our national motto, pledge of allegiance, america the beautiful,
and the declaration of independence. If we fail to instill pride in our
country to the young, our country will be doomed.

Thats just ridiculous.

I am not an American but that is just crazy that they force this teacher to remove phrases found within your countries motto's and especially the Declaration of Independence. I would be up in arms if I was a parent in this district.

Can someone find me a major speech by any American President that doesn't end with God Bless America. How about a dollar bill, your nations currency, without In God We trust not printed on it?

Where does it end?

:shk:

Thank-you very much for reading this.I was shocked when the link
was emailed to me yesterday.I was even more shocked by the lack of response.
In my opinion,this is a sign that our nation(U.S.A.) doesn't have a
lot of time left!

Nope not at all. Thats all good. It's called history and is important to learn. But you skipped right over the part about these posters being forced to be removed. There isn't anything about the curriculum or whatnot, just that these posters with slogans and phrases intrinsically tied to your nations history being forced to be removed.

You don't have a problem with that?

No,I don't have a problem with these topics being
taught.I have a problem when those topics are chosen
over the others.I say, teach them all to our children.

Ok i admit i did not watch the video you posted.

I just did and i guess i am a liberal but i didn't have a problem with them taking them down.

I have always had a problem with our money saying "IN GOD WE TRUST".
I thought one of the main reasons we formed america was to get away from religious persecution. GOD seems to be part of a religion.

Have you heard of separation of church and state?

Here are the 4 phrases on a huge banner:

IN GOD WE TRUST
One Nation Under God
God Bless America
God Shed His Grace On Thee

And another banner:

All Men are Created Equal
They are Endowed by their
CREATOR

They are yelling at us to believe in GOD and the CREATOR.

The only phrase i was fine by are ALL men are created equal. It seems that the teacher was probably a hippy and is probably a very peaceful person and i would love my kids to be taught by him. The lyrics to John Lennon's Imagine SHOULD be on every wall.

I feel being taught to have pride in one's country is important.
You have to have a sense of pride, loyalty and love for your
country.
What if the english people hadn't had strong feelings for england?
During WW2,if the english people hadn't worked together, england
would have been destroyed by germany.

Instead of the Queen's english being taught to her school children.
The children would have been taught german and nazi doctrine.
The english people, working and fighting together, defeated another
nation trying to enslave and destroy their population.

If we sit back and do nothing,we have only ourselves to blame.
The best way to defeat another nation, is from the inside out.Start
by manipulating the educational system.Corrupt the learning of
the children and you will win in the end.

I don't know why you brought up world war 2. But for the above statement, what do you think is happening? Do you think bringing up kids to be peaceful is a problem? It seems he is focusing on doing away with racism, that seems to be the teacher's main concern.

If every school across the world preached about peace the world would be a better place. We need to end the killing of people because of religion and race first off and then focus on other things. We are all humans, we are all equal.

Those banners were just heavy in GOD and the CREATOR. I don't think GOD and the CREATOR have any place in schools.

hindu's,muslim's and buddahists. But,law suits are filed
if our children are taught anything about judaic-christianity.

Ok sorry i glossed over that. I will re-read it. But i don't think they are teaching about those religions, they are teaching about the people. Those people happen to be from a different religion. I highly doubt they are having a lesson on each religion. Are you suggesting that students should only learn from people who are of christian/catholic background? If you look at it that way, i am sure 99% of the people that we learn about are christian or catholic and only 1% are from another religion. No matter what religion people come from, if they have something important to say, which those people did, they should be taught about.

I don't think America is Dying but i think we do have a huge problem. You are right about the American Idol statement. People in America work hard and since they work so hard they just want to relax when they get home. My cousin and her husband are a great example. They are teachers and they wake up at 6am and get home around 6pm. They are mentally tired when they get home and all they want to do is sit on their asses and watch mindless TV. That disgusts me and i hate hanging out with them now since i canceled cable a year ago and TV makes me sick now because of all the freaking commercials.

My cousin wakes up, goes to work, watches TV, eats while watching TV, watches more TV and goes to sleep. Repeat this every day. It's insane.

Now as for your other statement after separation of church and state, i agree with you on that also. We do need to know why the country was formed. I remember hating to do the pledge of allegiance every day in school though and you could hear it in the kids voices. I was a sheep like all good kids were. The pledge has GOD in it for some reason, as does our money which is strange to me.
