It depends who the visitors are.... If they are small and Grey fear them. If they are tall and Grey fear them. If they are like us humanoid fear them

Our planet is demonic and malevolent;
there are exceptions of really great people;
but the people who rule this planet are demonic;
with nuclear missiles; waging war; locking humans in cages;

If you were an alien would you want to make contact with people that behave that way?
If I could travel the universe i would be visiting multiple planets with sentient beings to see how they are evolving;
Earth is not the only planet with sentient beings burning fossil for energy

You do mean that you believe that this is not the only planet right? or have you spent time on an intergalactic cruiser? I'm not poking fun, But I think I'm gonna puke the next time someone tells me they've been on an alien space craft, and traveled the galaxy. Seriously though, to everybody You don't have to lie to kick it. It's ok if you believe aliens are real and like the X-files, so stop lying, prove it, or just be quiet about it. If you have really been on an Alien space craft, I'm sure they want you to keep your mouth shut about it.

As much as I try to focus on the positive, I am one of those people who believes the world is a complete mess and that contact can't happen soon enough.

Our technology has advanced far beyond our spiritual understanding and that is a dangerous place to be.

Not sure I believe in the "fairy godmother" syndrome, but something's got to give here on earth.....

Should watch Larry King tonight at 9pm. He's discussing the aspects of both sides tonight.

how is it that people can somehow believe that contact hasn't been established for a long time already?

Seriously, earth has been in continous contact with star beings since it's inseption.
and there has been much heightened activity in contact the past half century.

Our technology has advanced far beyond our spiritual understanding and that is a dangerous place to be.

that's a standard mammalian federation message to earth humans.

I agree.

There are many ways of increasing social stability.
Paradise for all.

I like atom-tribes.

No;
I havent been on an intergalactic cruiser;
and yes i was saying that this isnt the only planet;

I have had a near death experience once tho;
where i was sucked out of the universe faster than the speed of light;
I was flying through space and passing by stars like the were standing still;
It was more wild than any roller-coaster i have ever been on in my life;
I snapped into a super futuristic room that had technology far beyond anything I had ever seen in my life;
I looked around and said "WOW!!!! I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS"
then a man in a blue military looking uniform walked up to me;
i asked him "What happened?"
He said "You stopped breathing"
I said "DAAAMMMMNNNN" thinking that I died and how I never found love
Then the man said "Its not your time; We have to get you back ASAP"
then he gave me an injection in my arm;

and a woman walked into the room and told me to follow her;
she took me to a room and asked me if i had any devices to make the world better;
I said "Yeah" thinking that she was talking about ideas;
then she took me to a desk with a woman sitting there;
the woman handed me a piece of paper and told me to fill it out;
and as i started writing on the paper;
i blacked out;
and woke up in my bed;
when i woke up my whole entire body was hurting;
it felt like how your leg would feel when you have been sitting on it for too long

We makes you think we'll have ANY advantage over a species that has achieved space travel and has probably done so for some centuries and also technology/weaponry being far more advanced.

They could easily destroy us from orbit if they wished any harmful intent, leaving the planet itself relatively intact.

No, before any contact would be made they'll probably disable any weaponry that might be harmful to us and only us so yeah that includes nuclear weapons.

I think you really underestimate the human compartmentalized military complex.

A little here, a little there, earth humanities managed to mass quite a bit of classified technology.

However socially we're underdeveloped.
We still live in a feudal society,
the feudal lord is better known as "the government".

They could easily destroy us from orbit if they wished any harmful intent, leaving the planet itself relatively intact.

that's ridiculous,
such a wasteful species wouldn't last a day in the stars.

We're prime real estate in part because there are lots of peoples,
which can potentially be utilized for whichever purposes.
For the reptilian empire it's more direct slavery,
wheras the mammalian federation it's "social order" akin to socialism.

there's also the distributed all accepting orion priesthood.
I like atom-tribes.

you're thinking like an earthling.

sure we can disable your weapons,
but that would be a hostile act.

it's better if you learn for yourself.

anyhow, we've contacted,
and we've been here a while.
any questions?

No offence but is this a joke?

Anyway sure the world governments might have reversed engineered alien technology hidden away somewhere but who knows if it's being militarized yet and if it is definately not on a massive scale otherwise we would see the effects of such things being tested.

Anyway.. as I've stated aliens would know we've captured some of their technlogy and probably would deploy counter measures.

I'm watching a re-run of Larry King from last week (when he interviewed Hawking) just after watching Ancient Aliens on DVR.

You have to admit, it's amazing how much debate is taking place in the world regarding UFO's. It's like a new day has dawned and the stigma in even discussing it has lifted. Progress, however slow, is important. Compared to thirty years ago when I became interested in the phenomenon, it's a new world......

What's up with the History channel? Any theories as to why they seem to be a forerunner in showcasing UFO's as a topic?

It's a happy set of statements.

ya, well you see evidence of ufo's.
some of which are actual earth homo-sapien origin.

who cares?
that's irrelevant.

are you happy?
Do you live in paradise?
Then some things can be improved.

So lets do so.
Can discuss.

What do you wish?
What do you see in we with your paradise?

My simple logic:

We do not want aliens to know we are hear before we know they are there.

If they cannot travel in space, little could be gained by communicating, and great harm could be done. (explosives can travel across space a billion times easier then life forms)

IF we make contact with aliens that CAN travel here, we are screwed. Even if they have no weapons, the fact they can travel and we cannot, they could simply drop rocks from space and we'd have no way to stop them.

If they are peaceful, at best they would want trade. Nothing is free.. not like they gonna show up and fix all life problems... Cure for cancer? hello? they are alien they might not even know wtf cancer is, and they sure won't be experts on how we work. Medical help would be ziltch unless we give em a big bank of humans to experiment on.

So they come for trade? we'd be screwed. You think they would give us fair prices? not like we could trade with anyone else right? Think indians and beads. The only thing they could possible want from us is some sort of raw material that is rare in the universe. Why? cuz they can go to other planents duh if they need iron they don't need to come HERE... so anything they would want, down the road we'd find ourselves wanting it and screwed cuz it's gone. and in hindsight we'd have sold it for something that the aliens would probrably consider a joke of an item.

They wouldn't give us anything that would make us on par with them, or even close. that's just stupid. You never do that. Ever.

Even best case scenario sucks... so I say keep our little planet off the grid until we are the ones booking around to other solar systems.

Side note: Love the people who mistrust the government and want to stay hidden from them, yet trust aliens that no one even knows if they exist and want to make contact.

Side note 2: they don't exist.

We should welcome it, I think we allready have...
If aliens had bad intentions, they would had made them clear a couple of hundred / thousands years ago...

I do think we should make contact if we can but we have to be careful and take it slow.

first thougth we need to drop the presumptions made by both sides. there is no reson to presume technological advancment means social advancement, we've come along way from native americans and other primitive cultures but cause more harm througth war and sacrifice the comman good for monetary gain. why might ftl or other technoligys make the diferance radio,planes,tv,internet,computing havent.
furtermore why do we treat aliens as one 'they' its far more likely the galaxy is full of various factions and races, this also shows why ancient acounts of aliens dont mean modern contact will be peacefull - we may have met one faction of peacefull explorers but might not the next time. all this says proceed with caution hostilitys are always a possibility.
hawkings aproch is equaly flawed since even if we dont want to make contact there is no way to hide and some aliens may alredy know of our presance.
as a result the best aproch i feel is contact but tentitively and on our terms (with one hand always on the nuke switch) the first people we meet might not be the nice ones.

as a side note what if they have a 'trek liie noninterfirance protocol, for their sake not just ours again thing native americans -when we gave them guns they turned around and kicked the sh** out if us at littlebighorn. also preserving divecity would be important to a sensible race if everyone had been given the same tech everyone would share its weakneses (think cloned plants and disease) so each race should be left to take its own path to be traded with or pilaged from at a later date.

Cool Thread!

Steven Hawking is for sure a brilliant man, however I don’t think his parallel between the early settlers and ET’s is necessarily accurate. I tend to suspect that if an ET race is able to navigate space travel, that they are likely coming from a more advanced civilization. And for a civilization to reach a level of technology that would allow space travel without complete annihilation --- I hopeful would be evidence that may suggest that these ET’s are non violent.

Still space-travel technology doesn’t necessarily mean that a race is peaceful --- case and point --- Us humans so.... perhaps we should still be cautious.

But most importantly......more so than anything else --- if faced with ET contact I believe we should be very very polite and courteous --- less the ET’s get sick of us – and much like a foot on top of an ant hill --- decide to put us out of our misery and focus on more gentle/evolved earth inhabitants --- possibly the Dolphins or Penguins.

Dolphins

Maybe they develop some scary bombs and they decide to sign an agrement to fight all the wars they want with swords and shoot the bombs to the aliens (US)

Dolphins? are you kidding? have you seen dolphins killing baby dolphins? search a little, they are very violent.
