Fishermen whose jobs are threatened by the oil spill are
upset at their lack of involvement in the cleanup. WWL reports.

For those posters here who think this oil spill
clean-up is not targeted to profit Haliburton,
then you need to see this video.

Local Gulf fisherman are angry they are being
sidelined from helping with the oil spill
due to outside contractors.

Over 200 fishermen volunteered
and were declined.

Let the Haliburton debate begin !!!

They use who they need. Just because they are fisherman and have boats doesn't mean they will be given a job right away.

I imagine they will be kept very busy in a few days or so. It is a little early to be getting upset right now.

Their jobs where destroyed due to the oil spill. The oil spill has ended there ability to fish, meaning they are out of jobs. They want the job to clean up, because they have no job. I see this is a reason to be upset.

Not only the job aspect, but as was stated in the video, these guys know the local waters......makes more sense to use them. I guess big business will profit as usual while the working man suffers..........have you met the new boss, he's the same as the old boss?

Yes they need jobs, but how many of them are trained for scenerios like this?

They just need to wait a little longer and like I said I imagine they will have more work then they can handle. This isn't going away over night and they won't be put in the middle of the situation over night either.

I heard that the FED is going to try to get the shrimpers in on the clean up, considering they are all out of work now...

I heard it, did not read it, I will see if I can source this rumor.

BP states it will hire on fishermen and their equipment, we shall see

This is just the tip of the iceberg. I live between Gulfport, and Biloxi. On US 10 there is a huge billboard that says something to the effect of "Demand Mississippi Shrimp."

It's not just the fishermen, it's restaurants, tourism, local businesses of all sorts..........the beaches are one of the largest attractions to this area.

This is going to get very ugly!

Not only fishermen are going to lose jobs over this!

But.......most of all is the wildlife that will be affected. It's all just now coming back after Katrina.

This oil spill has the potential to completely ruin this part of the country, way over and above what Katrina did.

It's going to be devastating for nearly every animal and human along the coast!
