Who is your favorite singer of all time?

Mine is Sebastian Bach.

I've been listening to old 80's stuff I used to listen to when I was younger...and started to play some Skid Row.

I had forgotten how insanely awesome Sebastian Bach was back then. Unbelievable range....not to mention the songwriting of their ballads was awesome.

Here's some of my favs from them:

I remember you.

My Favorite: Wasted Time

Awesome song: Quicksand Jesus

As far as vocal quality goes, two performances stand out in my mind, as they both still send shivers up my spine every time I hear them:

And more recently:

But if I have to pick a mainstream artist, then it's Stevie Nicks, HANDSDOWN!

Great minds think alike.

Another couple of great ones:

Elvis -- Can't Help Falling in Love

Cliche response, I know, but the man could sing.

and...

Andrea Bocelli -- Con te Partiro

Great thread.

For me, it's Dusty Springfield.

She could sing songs successfully from just about any genre -- a testament to her versatility.

The fact that she performed in five successive decades (in spite of struggling with personal demons most of the way) is a remarkable achievement few can boast.

In order to truly appreciate her talent, one has to hear ALL of her music, not just the hits with which we are most familiar.

Sadly, we were denied at least another decade of her music due to her untimely death from cancer.

My vote for best female vocalist:

Patsy Cline -- Crazy

Patsy Cline -- I Fall To Pieces

I was always pretty partial to Karen Carpenter (of the Carpenter's)...

I was just a little kid when they were popular, but she had an incredible voice, that I'm only appreciating now, as I'm older. (Heck, it's not even Christmas to me until I hear some Carpenter's carols)....

David Bowie...no one can sound like him...but he can sound like so many others.
If something intangible, that exists outside technique, range, accuracy ect qualifies one be the greatest singer, David Bowie is the human.
Something to ponder?
Space Oddity, letter to Hermoine, life on mars, my death, five years, moonage daydream, The lonliest guy, cygnet committee,Ziggy stardust,Station to staion, heroes, ashes to ashes, Fashion,Modern love, rebel rebel, quicksand, kooks, drive in saturday, diamond dogs,we are the dead, sweet thing, scary monsters, he was an absorber, a sponge....but he is a one in a billion something beyond Mars.

not my fav singer but
Buddy and the crickets are my fav ( own all of his released records, and supposedly non released)

In High school talent show I did rave on with my band
but we made it more "punk" and I still to this day cover his music
and listen to him all the time.

we had standing applause and it felt great but we lost to some
chick singing the "dirty dancing talent show song" ( something hooka hawaii thing) in which we just said f this and left

Female Vocal
Id say
Lorenna

or
Eva

and or
Mazzy

I'm guessing that this is becoming a bit of a theme on here, but it's got to be be Freddie Mercury...

If some one here has not heard it then i would heartily recommend listening to Barcelona, his duet with Montserrat Caballé.

If i was to stick to my regular listening though then the No1 would be Bruce Dickinson...not a surprise if you see my Avatar!
