Man 'hasn't eaten, drunk in 70 years'

news.ninemsn.com.au

Scientists are studying an 82-year-old Indian man who claims he has not eaten any food or drink for 70 years.

Prahlad Jani says he survives on "spiritual life force" provided by a goddess who pours an "elixir" through a hole in his palate, the Telegraph newspaper reports.

Researchers from India's Defence Research Development Organisation are keeping Mr Jani under observation in Ahmedabad, Gurjarat, in the country's west.

This reminds me of HRM who went for hundreds of days under observation, multiple times, by scientists and doctors to prove he didnt eat, but he claimed to get his energy from sungazing and did require water. But this guy doesnt need water either so it will be increadible to see what the scientists have to say, theyve already found him to have a 25 year old brain from scans which is strange enough for an 82 year old.

I've heard about another person in India who did this and a nun in Germany, I think, who could live without food or water. It should be technically possible to absorb the energy from the surroundings rather than second-hand through food. Maybe the rest of us are just "blocked."

Lol of course some people are not going to believe its possible so then have no choice but to call him a fraud. We'll just see what the experts have to say, there'll be no fooling them.

He's already done six days under their obs without passing a single drop of urine!!

Edit to add; What really amazes me about this story is the fact someone as spiritually adept as he would ever attempt proof, shoudnt he be hiding his ability so as not to violate our free will by forcing us to believe. Perhaps he feels the ability to stop some hunger deaths outweighs the price he will have to pay for attempting proof. Either way he probably knows what hes doing, wouldve thought it through first.

Given the years of dumbing down of education and pulp tv, I am sure half the population could now give up food and drink completely.
They have become such vegetables that they'd probably be able to get along just fine on photosynthesis alone.

Even if he is telling the truth, they will say he is a fraud. There's no way a government entity is going to say to it's people "hey, you don't need food or water anymore, we'll tell you how."

They will keep any knowledge they gain to themselves.

6+15=21 days without food or water while monitored by scientist....cool. I will be looking forward to the results. Could it be mind over matter via visualization, convincing his cells to be getting their sustenance? He literally thinks he is being fed nourishment....Or, is it possible to adapt ( I am sure this is a process) the body to survive on light and air? My question is, does this guy spend most/all of his time being still, and meditating? Perhaps it is the minimization of energy expenditure that allows a return of minimized energy intake.
Peace

Exactly.

It doesn't matter if his farts could cure cancer, as that is unacceptable and so he must be declared a fraud.

Dogma demands it of us.

Maybe it's good for you people that I'm not the one deciding these things, but were it up to me you'd have to deal with a whole lot more than stuff like this.

Perhaps he feels the ability to stop some hunger deaths outweighs
the price he will have to pay for attempting proof.

Or perhaps there's no deep philosophical motivation here and the guys is just a talented fakir. (sic) *shrug*

He might be trying to show us that it's possible - to help free us.

And he's not forcing anyone to believe anything. I don't think that's even possible.

If he's a fraud then fine, but the link you have in your post is actually saying that after six days of observation without food or drink he showed no signs of degeneration.

I'm not understanding.. has something been discovered I'm not catching?

Whereabouts in India did they say this 'facility' was located again?

Your theory is flawed...If he's Santa andyet hasn't eaten for years then who ate the mince pies and drank the sherry every xmas at my house when I was a kid?

Polarwarrior.....

This is a hoax.

It is totally impossible this guy hasn't eaten or drunk for 70 years.

If the Indian Dr looking after him makes any claims to that effect, he is doing it because he craves attention & publicity.

For convenience, I have inserted the article (below).

They believe if Mr Jani's claim is legitimate, it could help them teach soldiers survive for long periods without food or disaster victims to hold on until help arrives.

"If his claims are verified, it will be a breakthrough in medical science," said Dr G Ilavazhagan, director of the Defence Institute of Physiology & Allied Sciences.

Mr Jani, who says he left home at the age of seven before living as a "holy man", has spent six days in isolation and doctors say his body is showing no signs of dehydration. He has not passed any urine or stools.

Doctors will continue to observe Mr Jani for another 15 days at which point they expect to see muscle fatigue, weight loss and serious dehydration.

Most humans will die after 50 days without food. The world's longest hunger strike is 74 days.

Tests on Mr Jani's brain reportedly show that it resembled that of a 25-year-old person.

An Indian doctor who specialises in people who claim they have supernatural abilities has supported Mr Jani's claim. Others have described Mr Jani as a "village fraud".

Well he would sorta be taking away some of the freedom for people to say its just a fraud or whatever by proving under scientific obs like this. Hence the free will violation. What I meant by forcing some of us was he's removed the option to not believe for those who are not ignorent but also not ready to believe, leading to him having made them believe rather than people leading themselves to their own beliefs. Upon pondering this I think hed actually still be allowing the "on the fence" position because people could just claim the scientists are in on the hoax or something. There could still be plenty of debunking options for those who are not ready yet so that they are not pushed in that direction by another persons actions.

I had a longer think about it and I think he senses the world is ready for something like this, collectively we are waking up, hence more amazing things can take place without it being a collective free will or confusion violation. If this is the case, as the internet numbers would suggest, then we are going to be in for an exciting year alright.

Altough this is extreme, its not a abnormal case: yogi have learned to absorb what they call prana into theire body (prana is everywhere in the earth atmosphere, like chi or orgon etc.)
Prana gives the body all it needs (and much more actually)

I think almost everybody can learn this if you really want it.
Start learning yoga very seriously and you are able to master amazing things.
Dont forget yoga is a very very old science and is the best gift you can give yourself in life.

Disclaimer: theire is always a chance that this guy is a fraud, dont know him! But if you research this topic you will find more amazing skills yoga masters can perform.
