my pc keeps makeing dialling sounds

my pc keeps making dialling noises like it's starting to ring someone
does anyone know what this is it has never happened before?

That would be your old skool 56k dial up modem kicking in for some reason - they still build those things in as standard on most PC's... Errm no idea why yours would be doing that.

Or or or!! There has been an advert on ATS lately that when you mouse over it it makes a dialling sound... Thinking about it it's more likely to be that.

Yeah that had me wondering for a while the other day! kept hearing a dialing sound when on here, I was clueless for a while!

Aha, an advert, thats what it is!

Or is it? It seems to just randomly go off for no particular reason.. caused me several small heart attacks so far today. Plus I swear down one time is sounded as if it was coming from my ceiling.

thank god I thought I had a dialler virus its been really freaking me out I just suddenly hear these dialling beeps and get like ahh wtf was that!?

I did bug your place with a number of web cams, errm forgot to tell you... Your actually a reality TV star in Japan now

upgrade to windows 7
get threadfire free or kasperky
get free superantispyware and free malwarebytes
and ccleaner.
its 2010 we dont get viruses anymore XD
