First this:

The warning follows recent comments made by a hard-line Iranian cleric, who claimed women dressed in revealing clothing were disturbing young men and causing earthquakes.

"The public expects us to act firmly and swiftly if we see any social misbehavior by women, and men, who defy our Islamic values," Brigadier Hossien Sajedinia said.

"In some areas of north Tehran we can see many suntanned women and young girls who look like walking mannequins," he continued. "We are not going to tolerate this situation and will first warn those found in this manner and then arrest and imprison them."

A preacher has also told the residents of Iran's capital Tehran to leave the city.

"Go on the streets and repent for your sins. A holy torment is upon us. Leave town," said Ayatollah Aziz Khoshvaqt during a recent sermon in northern Tehran.

Now, why is this posted in US Political Madness?

If you search the thread title, the hits will either revert to the Fox News story (or) link to a blog comment.

One question to ask yourself - it appears that Fox News is the only *MSM* that is posting this article/story. Now, why would this be? Is Fox simply a step ahead of all other *MSM* outlets? Are they focusing on women's rights? or, are they following an agenda that villainizes anything coming from Iran? Swaying public opinion in the name of righteous outrage? and to what end? Hmmmm.

OK that was too stupid****

YES, interesting

I think FOX is at its core a NEOCONSERVATIVE outfit that see's the merits in war profiteering, people die anyways and this serves as a constant reminder for the need to take out Iran. When the neoconservatives take back America from the socialists, FOX will have made the job of selling a strike easier.

Thats my opinion

Thank you

Amazing, you could very well see a civil uprising in Iran about this earthquake mumbo jumbo...how fortunate it would be for Israel.

Now if they can just get rid of all of the women, then they can have a party they been wanting for a long time. Men frolicking around with no women to look at. Most Muslim men prefer other men & young boys rather than be with a women.

Profiting by being a participant in beating the drums of war?

Now that would be a first...

How many Fox viewers, again?

I just read this horrible article

I say ...turn that country into a parking lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I was a hayseed neo-con.

Plenty of stories of these "back-woods" countries whose customs and laws are completely horrible and repressive by western countries. Just propaganda used as an excuse to start war.

If they where so concerned with atrocities...Africa woould have been invaded and turned into a Walmart parking lot by now.

...just sayin'

edited for poor education and drunkeness while typing.

Sounds like prisons are going to be the hot spot to pick up hot Iranian women...I'll go to jail. Do they have coed jails over there???

Ok...I have to preface this next statement that it is not about racism...but...don't most middle eastern people have a natural darker skin tone? How are you going to determine if they are tan or just naturally darker?

This is almost as bad as the new Arizona immigration law...ok ok...it is worse then that...but Arizona isn't too far behind Iran.

YEAH...did you hear what they are doing to those poor women...we'll show them...we'll KILL ALL OF THEM.

Or do you have some type of plan to evacuate all the women or anyone else who is repressed before parking-lot-ification commences???

Sounds like the rich youth of Northern Tehran, you know the ones who like to party are getting a bit of stick from the clerics.... not really surprised by that one..

My home town on the South Coast was defined as the most godless in the UK.. my word the churches where queuing up, rubbing their hands together to convert the heathens.. Didn't get them very far either

The part that I really like is that fox news has inadvertently given the world details of the suntanned, fun loving people of Northern Tehran
bet that wasn't their intention tho.. But it made me laugh all the same..

The twisted webs we weave...

Great perspective, did not see it that way, myself.

One comment about the above --

Part of the reason for going after women with tans is that the only way to get a tan is to remove clothing, which is what they are really going after I think. It's not really about the tan, but what they had to take off and reveal to get it.

I did find it interesting that they once again reiterated that people should leave Tehran. They obviously know something....and me thinks it's not an earthquake that's about to hit.....

Nice catch, I was wondering about that remark too, though I was thinking it was a reference towards women returning to the home and less social interaction...

-That is a disgusting and stupid comment. Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

Islam and Homosexuality

Recognition Vs. Acceptance

Ever heard of "bacha bazi (boy for play)". I am only stating what has been suggested already.

Of course they are making a villain of Iran just as they did Iraq. "They utter ominous gibberish and don't think the way you do" worldview they impart is obvious. I hate Islam myself and think women that are persecuted for their garments or lack thereof should shoot the oppressors dead, but hey, I am an American.

Fox is the safe, controlled opposition to the more liberal media and keeps the red/blue game fresh and exiting for people who think of politics much like the way they do about football.

I found this strange as well.

Maybe Iran is planning their own false flag (guess the west doesn't have the patent on these yet). Iran nukes own capital and blames it on Israel inciting all Arab countries to rise up and attempt to wipe the Israelis off the map. US is forced to intervene to protect Israel. Russia, China and Turkey are so outraged by the supposed Israeli attack send forces to help the Arab nations. While the US attention is focused on the ME, North Korea invades South Korea. (
sorry, it is a conspiracy theory site.)

I know there are obviously more glaring instances of manipulation of news and information on Fox's part, but using the concept of "oppression of women" as a catalyst to something else, really irks me and had to bring it up.

Seriously, who give a monkey's flying arse what they do with their women in Iran.

yes it is sexist and amoral but our western standard, but try and turn a muslim woman away from covering her self in a large bath towel, and SHE will give you the kicking of your life.

Who cares what they do. If this is the sort of thing that TPTB know and believe will get your yank blooding boiling and beating the war drums, then the fight for self governance is lost. you are all dumbed down beyond belief

Wow look how they treat their women folk. Right that is I;'ve took all I can stand and I can;t stands no more!

NUKE EM!!!!!!

Am I the only one here who find this a ridiculous reason to support sending american troops into what WILL BE an impossible suicide mission!
