the reality is that ... if they put some team searching for pedophile material on the net, they will probably find the sources and the people behind it

so, it it ends this on the internet, it will be a lot harder to find these people doing these things to kids

os, internet is good because it can be used to our advantage to get these sick people, since a lot of them are just DUMB ...

and nowadays, internet IS used by the FBI and other agencies to track pedophiles

Beside IMO time with my son and his safety is far more important than internet censorship. I think people should re evaluate their priorities..

This is a completely off the shelf sheeple answer. This is EXACTLY what the speaker is looking for in the OP's Source.
Several other posters have stated that they are for additional laws to curb or control child pornography, because they missed the point of the entire thread. The speaker at the podium is stating flat out that they will use "child pornography" as the method or tool to shut down other sites.

Censorship will NEVER protect your kids, it will never protect my kids. When you agree to censorship you are saying that information deemed bad by a third party, ANY information deemed bad is ok to remove. Hitler did it, Stalin did it, so you know it works.

From a technical stand point, it would be relatively easy to shut down child porn sites if they wanted to. The reality is the government doesn't really want to. As long as the threat of child porn, or terrorism or gingivitis lurks in the shadows the sheep will continue to follow each other to slaughter.

You are right it will not stop child exploitation nor will it stop these freaks from sharing. In the end it may help some children and that is what matters. I cannot believe people who cry about something that will personally effect them but may help others. One word=SELFISH.

You would rather protect your own freedoms rather than help those few children this may help.

I personally could care less what happens to the net.....people need lives and get off it anyways. I come on every now and then and come on here maybe every few weeks, so it would not affect me in any way. You do know that the internet is a world wide phenomenon and not only an American one...so your precious american right freedom of speech should have no say in how the internet is dealt with or who they can filter out...etc...so basically you are saying "boo hooo...children may be helped but what about my rights"...does this sound right to anybody

Much of your post is drivel. Simply stating that "help the children" this and "help the children" that will accomplish nothing. In addition to being drivel, your post projects a complete ignorance about which you care so little.

The internet is the worlds largest employer. More people are employed by the internet in general than any other industry on this planet. When you consider the developers and all of the ancillary businesses that utilize the internet in addition to the hosts, designers and coders, line providers, telco's, advertisers and all of the people they employ it becomes very clear that you are indeed affected by the Internets existence.

Now beyond that your post is ignorant and drivel, the true heart of the matter is that you have missed the point of the OP. This isn't about child porn, this is about using child porn as a lever to censor information. Not just websites, not just books not just video, but any kind of information that is deemed offensive. It starts with one thing, but once the law has passed quickly blooms to something far more heinous. (...cough patriot act..cough..*..)

Allowing this censorship will allow no one anything except to further the agenda of oppression on the people of the world..all people not just Americans, but ALL PEOPLE..

Before you take a stand for or against something, please try to understand what it is your fighting for and not just blindly follow the sheep in front of you.

Here in Australia, the government are using the kiddie porn line but in reality they are going to filter anything that is RC - refused classification...

This will include content discussing euthanasia, safe use of drugs and various sexual fetishes which are perfectly legal to buy in pictorial form from adult shops, to name a very few...

Books discussing or depicting many of these topics are illegal to sell in Australia but ARE NOT illegal to possess, an example being Exit International's books on euthanasia...Illegal to sell in Australia, but not illegal to possess as many people order them from O/S or download digital copies...

As you've said, the kiddie porn line is just a smoke screen thrown up by governments on behalf of various lobby groups to try and deprive us of liberties...

What matters is that you are advocating censorship and spying on innocent internet users. There are already mechanisms implemented to help abused children, namely police and the justice system. ISPs should have no right to censor or even monitor your communication in the same way that postal services cannot monitor or censor what they deliver.

If there is a suspicion that someone is spreading child porn, you have to have a judge decision that allows you to search his computer or spy on his internet connection, just like you need a judge decision to search someones house or open his letters.

I am not fighting for anything...but if I was....it would be the children not your rights. Like I said previously...I don't care if they censor books, what you watch, the internet and etc... I spend my time enjoying life out side of those. To me it is about protecting children and sure we may not be able to help them all, but the few it wll help would be worth it. You can keep crying about censorship and call me a sheeple or whatever lame name you come up with(by the way "sheeple" is not highly original, just a name that people come up with when thier arguments are weak, but the truth of the matter is that I do think for myself and because there are those of you out there against it does not mean I should fall in line and cry outrage like you and the others.

I believe there are subjects out there that should be censored, but it is allowed to flourish because of your stupid american right to freedom of speech. We can never get rid of hatred if your allowed to openly talk about it...we can never get rid of child porn if efforts to censor the internet are not tried..etc. You may not agree with me and frankly I could give a rats a@@..but unlike those of you "sheeple" out there I think for myself. I believe that ISP's should monitor people. They can't monitor everyone at the same time so they would most likely use a program that would bring up a red flag that would point to a certain IP address if certain keywords are looked up. If you are doing nothing wrong then why worry or are you? Is that why you fear ISP's spying on you? Are you people up to no good....shame on you

I think anybody who reads a book of fiction and takes it as fact should not be allowed to have a say in how the world is run. I say cenosr religion(all not just yours) and all it preaches...make it so that you can only practise it at home.
