So exploitation of children is a key part in restricting the internet, makes for a certain twisted logic I suppose....

IFPI's mission is to promote the value of recorded music, safeguard the rights of record producers and expand the commercial uses of recorded music in all markets where its members operate.

I've often thought there is something odd about the child porn issue, I mean don't get me wrong, there are genuine perves out there that either create this crap or view it... But I have long suspected it to be a tool, a convenient 'hot button' if you like. For example I know how easy it is to get material onto someone's computer either by physically sitting in front of the thing or remotely, it could be a great way to ruin someone for for your own gain should that be your desire.

There must be instances of the authorities using these tactics, I can just feel it.

So now as an indirect approach to file sharing, which we can also read as internet censorship in a wider sense, they again take the easy and economical psychological go to guy, the foundation of certain newspapers when real news needs to be by passed, the nasty beast of paedophilia.

Rather than tackle it, let it run and use it for your own purpose, young souls be dammed.

Makes you think what other subjects are used in this way, could you or I be a pawn for some agenda?

Not the exploitation of children, but exploitation of our fear.

This is one of my hot button issues. How many laws are passed, how many infringements on our rights are we willing to accept for the sake of "saving the children"?

So yes, you're right - they use the fear to their advanatage, and the VAST majority of internet users who DO NOT view, distribute or produce child pornography pay the price.

I suspect that half of the law makers are pedophiles. Why else would the laws be so lax? ALL PEDOPHILES SHOULD BE PUT TO DEATH, BECAUSE THEY CANNOT BE REHABILITATED, IT'S WHO THEY ARE. Its so obvious they have a completely different agenda entirely to that of "Getting rid of kiddie porn" as the oft trotted out line goes...

christian (deliberate lower case use) lobby groups need to be silenced completely and their influence on governments stopped...I have a fair few ideas of how this can be achieved, however, none of them are peaceful and I'll save them for other sites and actual implementation should it be necessary...

I would not be surprised if paedo stuff is not alot more widespread like you say. Imagine what is the thing they get people to do, to make sure they never talk.

I think people like gary glitter is just the tip of the iceberg, in some of these corrupt systems.

It's the same tactic that's used by government whenever a kid gets shot. They wallow in the blood dancing on the corpse using it to pass more and more legislation and taxes all the while not doing anything whatsoever to the statistic they claim as the motivation for their action.

How can anyone not want to stop this abomination? As a Christian (upper case used on purpose) I feel that pedophiles are all demons. Don't misunderstand me, I am not for internet censorship, but there needs to be better technology to catch these perves, and stop the spread of this trash.

The thing is that they're doing the wrong stuff with this excuse. Instead of closing such sites and devoting resources to arresting the people they choose to put up filters and blocks which don't even work. These kind of people been proven to be total idiots when it comes to internet time and time again.

People like you are the reason why christians should have zero say in the way society is run...Far too hysterical and not logical enough...

If the technology involves compulsory filtering of my internet connection when said filter will involve not being able to view sites that have nothing to do with kiddie porn and said filter slows down my internet connection, I am not in favour of this technology...

Its like the cars cause accidents argument...We don't ban cars despite the millions who die in accidents around the world every year...And I don't believe filtering the internet in the remote hope a small handful of extra pedophiles might be caught every year should happen either...

Extra resources for law enforcement to track down and prosecute these people would be a much better way to spend money that would be otherwise spent on any internet filtering...

I am saying I DON'T CARE if kiddie porn exists if any piece of software or hardware at an ISP or network level slows my internet connection down or stops me from viewing other sites that might appear on any "blacklist" that are in no way related to kiddie porn...

Simple...

It is virtually impossible to stop kiddie porn being disseminated on the Interwebz...No amount of filtering will stop same...If you really want to stop pedophiles, more money in law enforcement might achieve these aims...

once they have their stupid cause and their stupid justification they find the banner to fall in behind that takes the least amount of work. any banner will do, religion, tabloid newspapers, school boards, community groups, book clubs, whatever, doesn't matter, all that matters is the miserable company, the abdication of responsibility and the total absence of logic.

so now the moaning, whining, misery guts will be led by record companies. just another shiny banner to fall in behind in the never ending quest to make sure no-one has any fun.

Gee some people are sick.

As a father I can honestly say that people that involve themselves in this type of rubish are worse than those producing such filth.

I would rather limit myself interms of censorship if this means keeping children safe... what ever the agenda we are still talking about real kids.

Beside IMO time with my son and his safety is far more important than internet censorship. I think people should re evaluate their priorities..

Just my outlook.

Absolutely spot on.
Emotionally blackmail people into accepting restrictions and infringements of civil liberties by pretending the legislation is entirely to protect the children.
In reality, of course, they don't care one bit about protecting children, otherwise they'd go after the cause of the problem rather than a symptom.

One thing you can say about tptb, is that they have got a good grasp of group psychology and know about societal manipulation.

The only problem for them is how to mop up all the tin-foil hat wearing ''terrorists'' that can see through their charade. They're working on that, though.
