ok so what you are saying is that a fictional being (vampire of any kind) can be beaten by reading a fictional book?

if that is your assertion i agree...

I find imagining myself surrounded by a wall of mirrors (facing outwards) helps to reflect the energy back, also wearing hematite seems to help me. Another shielding technique is to surround yourself in layers , and if need be make the outer layer something spikey. It seems to push the more forceful energy vamps away.

It's also important to replenish your energy when you are at home. Baths, or showers are great for this....especially with salts.

Another thing you can do is run your hands over yourself, visualizing yourself severing any attachments that you feel are drainng you (to me they look like thick cords).

We are all mirrors for eachother!!

Thinking is the worst things we do as humans imo.

It's impossible not to think, and incredibly foolish to actually try.

I'd have to say the opposite, a lack of proper thought, most notably reflection, is the worst man can do.

When buddhists say not to think, what they are really meaning is to not be attached to our own thoughts. To be an observer of our thoughts, rather than a victim.

Yeah but observing your thoughts isn't really like thinking them is it?

oooh my friends the energy vamps... hateful leechs if you ask me...
I'm an "empath" asn you say, OP, and there's always red cords trying to plug onto me when I go to certain places... What I do, mentally draw a circle of protection around me and "turn the light on" the circle... It's a good technique...

It's still thinking. What it's not is thinking about your thinking.

Being empathic and having been around energy vamps I'd have to say no. My first and most followed impulse is to get away quickly. They give me a vibe that doesn't make me stick around long.
