U.S. National ID card.....it's about time

I've been saying that in my own way for quite a while now.

National ID will surely not solve all immigration problems, but I believe that a way to identify if a person is a legal citizen is essential for a functional state. That is already often acomplished by a passport or a drivers licence, and a national ID will be just a little improvement over current system, ensuring that everyone, even people without passport etc., has an ID. National ID cards are used in my country for more than 50 years, and it is just another paper that simplifies administration a bit.

What the US, and other countries IMHO need in the first place, is a way to secure borders, and do not allow illegal immigration.

A wall keeps people from going out as well as coming in.

Let us not forget that.

I don't really have a problem with carrying a national I.D. card. It seems everyone that is here legally carries some sort of I.D. card anyway.

I prefer to carry my passport with me everywhere because it's all I need to get out when sh#t hit's the fan.

but it sounds to me you are not applying logic to your equation, I assume to promote your ideology or maybe you believe this in blind faith, your thing...

But the logic you have applied to this is akin to saying

The tires are worn, the A/C is busted, the engine misfires and I am afraid one day
the car will break down. I am broke, can't afford a new car and I can barely afford to keep fixing it but I also need it to get to work and make money because there is no other way to work...

You assert that a nuke will solve any problem, but you also fail to recognize every solution creates a new set of problems. Instead you seem to believe each woe will be replaced with roses

This why your ideas appear to be more religious in nature, it think it offends me because it is so very obvious , while you pretend this equative function does not accompany you everywhere you set up shop. Here is another suggestion.
If people are so hesitant about implementing a U.S. National ID card, then how about this: let's make it a requirement that all U.S. citizens carry a U.S. Passport at all times, along with Driver's License.
It's as simple as that. (Some U.S. citizens actually do so)

There seems to be a misunderstanding about the new Arizona law, which I support.
The new Arizona law does not allow a law enforcement official to question any legal status of a person (white or non-white) UNLESS he or she is committing a crime.

In any case, I am all for a U.S. National ID system.

How about not.

How about we get the government out of our lives and stop the welfare state.

This way we will not have to worry about illegals using public services.

We already have a national ID card, it uses a system called AAMVAnet. .....Lets say you get stopped in another state, and they want to check for warrants. They use AAMVAnet to check your card.

The next step is to create the "right crisis" so people will demand "a little temporary safety [RFID] in exchange for essential liberty [no privacy, no buying or selling without the mark]".

This is already happening in Mexico. People are demanding to be chipped with RFID because kidnapping have become rampant in that despotic state.

Dude, you won't get anywhere with this line of thinking. I have been preaching this for 5-6 years now and its normally ignored because it goes against both parties.

Conservatives want them out in total opposition to their Conservative Principles, which seem to fade in and out based on the topic.

Liberals want them to stay, not really sure why but they surely don't want to get rid of social programs and will turn on the waterworks to see that people are emotionally scarred for even thinking it.

Thinking about this issue alone has bred some half-baked and downright stupid ideas, as is evidenced on this very board, talk radio, and tv constantly.

I swear this issue makes people dumber. Superficial opinions for superficial politics.
