What the US, and other countries IMHO need in the first place, is a way to secure borders, and do not allow illegal immigration.

1. The national ID card will not prevent illegals from coming here.
2. The country is only in a situation where people are angry about immigrants coming here because the US has devolved into a socialist welfare state.
3. The economy can't support the immigrants because government and the Fed have destroyed it through massive mismanagement, over-regulation, the propping up of failed industries, multiple foreign wars, and insane taxation.
Given these facts, the proper solution to the immigration problem is not a national police state, but instead, eliminating government.

Here is another suggestion.
If people are so hesitant about implementing a U.S. National ID card, then how about this: let's make it a requirement that all U.S. citizens carry a U.S. Passport at all times, along with Driver's License.
It's as simple as that. (Some U.S. citizens actually do so)
There seems to be a misunderstanding about the new Arizona law, which I support.
The new Arizona law does not allow a law enforcement official to question any legal status of a person (white or non-white) UNLESS he or she is committing a crime.
In any case, I am all for a U.S. National ID system.

How about not.
How about we get the government out of our lives and stop the welfare state.
This way we will not have to worry about illegals using public services.
