A LEADER in the search for a vaccine against HIV said last week recent advances had given scientists new reason for hope.

Dr Alan Bernstein, executive director of the Global HIV Vaccine Enterprise, cited the world’s first successful test of an experimental Aids vaccine. In September, researchers said the vaccine protected one in three people from getting HIV in a large study in Thailand.

I find this article interesting, especially in light of all the de-population theories out there. Optimistically, they could be 15 years away from a vaccine, realistically maybe 20. All things considered thats not bad. Smallpox and polio killed people for far longer than AIDS before a vaccine was found.

The big question is will it be accepted, what will the winner do with it? Make it public domain or patent and monopolise it?

Either way I find this article very thought provoking.
