There is page after page of them. I haven't looked historically, but have been keeping track for a few months. I feel the west coast is going to have some major quakes with all the little ones around. Baha California, Mexico is off the charts and several off shore quakes near the Cascadia subduction zone off shore of N.A. and Canada could cause a major megathrust quake off Oregon, Washington and N. California. Many quakes in areas of the US I didn't even know had quakes in the middle of the continental plate. I read an article (don't recall where now) that was quoting scientists that felt a large quake on the San Andreas and some East West faults that cross it could weaken the Yellowstone cauldera roof of the Yellowstone supervolcano and cause an eruption. I check the page almost every day. Here is the page:

There were 78 just yesterday - albeit many could still be attributed to Baja 7.7 - Cali is always shaking, it's not unusual to see many quakes listed each day, let alone in a week.

If you search through USGS you'll find most states have a geo/seismic monitoring setup. For instance, here is an archive of quakes 2+ in Ohio since 2000

Were a lot of these on Sunday? I noticed I was feeling a bit restless myself. I'm much better today (Monday). I'm just wondering if I could be reacting to something I hadn't thought about.

No it is natural and or natural gas drilling... It is not the end or near the end of the world. You need to get off ATS and get back to the real world.

What's the point of posting something, then saying "you can't convince me"?

If you think its a record why didn't you even look it up?

Well luckily I did a simple google for it and it turns out its completely normal.

earthquake.usgs.gov...

According to the USGS there were approximately 27852 earthquakes in the 10 year period between 2000-2009. This equates to about 53.5 every 7 days. So according to their data that 7 day period you pointed out is completely average! Sorry to put you in your place, but someones got to do it and Phage isn't around, yet!

Here is the Earthquake Data for the last 9 years in the USA -

Year 2000

Total Number of Quakes - 2342 per year = 195 per month = 48 per week avg.

Year 2001

Total Number of Quakes - 2261 per year = 188 per month = 47 per week avg.

Year 2002

Total Number of Quakes - 3876 per year = 323 per month = 80 per week avg.

Year 2003

Total Number of Quakes - 2946 per year = 245 per month = 61 per week avg.

Year 2004

Total Number of Quakes - 3550 per year = 295 per month = 73 per week avg.

Year 2005

Total Number of Quakes - 3685 per year = 307 per month = 76 per week avg.

Year 2006

Total Number of Quakes - 2783 per year = 231 per month = 57 per week avg.

Year 2007

Total Number of Quakes - 2791 per year = 232 per month = 58 per week avg.

Year 2008

Total Number of Quakes - 3618 per year = 301 per month = 75 per week avg.

Year 2009

Total Number of Quakes - 4854 per year = 404 per month = 101 per week avg.

------------------------------

Nothing unusual at all that there have been 41 Earthquakes in the last Week! Thats below average over the last 9 years.

Why doesn't he use email, or buy a half hour of infomercial time on tv or something? God's gotta up his marketing for the information age, no?

From the same website you presented:
earthquake.usgs.gov...

In all reality, this year is roughly very comparable to every other year up to date. It is just the media reporting them more often, and people hyped up about 2012..

That is so flippin funny.

But on the other hand, no one has been able to dispute that their have been an increase in temblors through out diverse areas of the US (excluding California).

Apart from the fact that this thread is just another stupid fearmongering exercise with no basis in fact whatsoever because no research has been done, none of which is anything to do with you, I would question your question!

I think it has been proven beyond a doubt that there has not been any significant increase in earthquakes over and above normal annual/periodic variations, but what do YOU mean by an increase?

An increase in pure numbers is not relevant. One 8.0 is the equivalent to 100,000 mag 3.0 quakes or 1,000 mag 5 quakes. Intensity is what matters NOT numbers. Now armed with that you can research!

Edit: I will give you a clue. Read this
