What I find funny is that everybody says history repeats itself(which I believe it does) The problem lies in which part of history is repeating? Is this when Lenin started revolution to turn Russia into a communist state, or Nazi Germany, or maybe it is actually the fall of Rome.

When ever somebody is from the left it's always the Nazi's are coming. When it's somebody from the right it's the Nazi's are coming and the Communist are coming. I find it all BS actually I think history is repeating itself and it has nothing to do with Nazi's and Communist, I think an empire is falling and it's looking like Rome or the fall of the English empire. The government is doing everything it possibly can to keep the illusion that we are not an empire we in fact we are.

Nazi's? Nope. Communist? Nope. Fall of an Empire? Yes sir.

The other part about it that I mentioned already is that as long as somebody from the left makes the comparison to Nazi's everything is hunky dorry, but if somebody from the right makes the comparison they get slandered and attacked.

"Only ignorant, uneducated, and low intelligence people attack the man making the argument, rather than the argument itself."

So I suppose you would thoughtfully ponder over Goebbel's press releases?

By your estimation then genius, we should give careful consideration to the message of radical islam, or during WWII, the Nazi party official line.

Now go away.

the unemployment rate held at 9.7 percent

Source: www.bls.gov...

In the interview, Chomsky said that "official" unemployment (meaning the link I just cited above) was at 10 percent, which is in fact HIGHER than the official 9.7% figure reported by the BLS.

So take whatever Asktheanimals says, spin it 180 degrees, and viola -- you have the truth.

lol, this is the new tactic. This is the Lefts way of trying to stop the inevitable. No one has any clue of who will be the next President but if he is from the right he will be another fascist like Hitler.
Nice way to label someone who has not even stepped up yet.

I don't think he is saying that at all..

This interview was already posted in another thread, actually, and in the interview, he talks about charismatic "honest" figures getting elected.

What he means by "honest" is someone who is pure in their intentions; someone who is going to get into office and really believe that if we get rid of all the illegal immigrants, America will be great again; if we stop the liberal party from ever having a chance at running the govt again (perhaps by constitutional amendment), then America will be fixed; if we end every welfare program, including social security and medicare/medicaide, then our problems will be over; if we get rid of the govt almost entirely, then the free market will finally be allowed to flourish, and we'll become a utopian society; if only we could stop gay people from getting married, then our children would grow up to be better than us. Etc.

Next time you come to ATS, leave the Ad Homs at home.

I don't see a problem attacking the man or the argument. Given the man seems to be some kind of disinformation agent.

There were many that put much weight behind Chomsky's words and his various works. His insistence of parroting the establishment line makes him and his opinions dangerous to those who respect truth and freedom.

And for this Chomsky himself should be exposed.

I like some of the things he is saying and I get it. I don't however believe the next president that comes from the right will be the next hitler. We have enough propaganda right now to worry about that gem.

Well I'd like to know what exactly he thinks the "right" is these days. Obama is pretty far to the right himself. Policy wise he may even be more right wing than Bush 1 or 2.

The American "left" is where the centre should be. And the actual real left? Nowhere to be seen.

Nope. But good job on the assumption.

I just find Chomski, at the far left end of the spectrum to be as idiotic as Limbaugh on the right.

Life isn't black and white. There are shades of grey. Which is something people like Limbaugh and Chomski don't understand...

Good find Seth.

I'm not a Chom fanboy, by any means. I really couldn't care less what his personal beliefs are. I do know that he is a smart guy.

That pic is sweet, star.

I have to agree with you 100%.

The same could be said for Bill Clinton.
He was much, much more to the right than the left.
I was constantly perplexed by the so-called "right wing" treatment of the man.
He signed off on the bill that completely gutted the welfare system.

The same argument that you are making for the left could be made for the right as well.

I do not see very many people on either side of the aisle, save maybe Ron Paul and Dennis K., who truly stand for the core principles of their respective party.
(And that is a BIG maybe for both of those guys)

The republicrats and the democans are the exact same party.

They are the CORPORATE party.

They believe in socialism for the wealthy corporate class and free markets for the poor.

I am somewhat underwhelmed to see that more people do not see this as STRAIGHT UP Fascism.

(I said underwhelmed because I have pretty much lost faith in the populace of this country. The propaganda has become very refined and the television and 24 hour news cycles are RUINING this once great nation)

Great comment.

Rs and Ds are two branches of the same Corporate Party. they pretend to compete so we can believe we have a choice. here in portland oregon we do coffee. Starbucks is big. there was a hugely popular competitor called Coffee People. then for the "independents" there was Tazo Tea. One day Starbucks bought Coffee People. there are still separate stores but same owner. starbucks serves tazo tea. i assume coffee people does too. when you patronize any of them, you are supporting one big owner.

same with democrats and republicans. right now democrats are okay with tea party bashing and palin hating because they essentially agree with what's being said. they think the gov is being compassionate to run health care and car companies and the financial sector because they believe dems care about the people. they think it amusing that critics are considered domestic terrorists by an administration who has banished the word terrorist from its international vocabulary. what these dems don't realize is that one day someone else will be in office, and will have all that same power to turn the other direction. the PRETEND other direction.

this all works well for the government class but not so great for the rest of us.

Chomsky lost credibility with me over his views on 911.

We are already in a Fascist controlled gov. NGO's (SPLC/ADL) become the mouthpieces of the FBI and DHS.

Up till recent history it has been a soft form of Fascism, that flew under most individuals ability to fully understand. This ratcheting up is becoming more obvious.

Why does it have to be a person from the right that tries to nationalize everything and appoint non elected officials to oversee government agencies and programs.

Couldn't it just as easily be a charismatic person that everyone likes from the left?...................oh wait.....uh oh........

Funny how Chomsky is echoing Beck though isnt it? He's a few years late to the game.
