4.25.10 - Pravda - Recent research from the New York Times / CBS News poll revealed that 18% of Americans identify themselves as supporters of the Tea Party, classify themselves "very conservative" and are very pessimistic about the direction of the country and severely critical of Washington and, of course, Obama. Over 90% of them believe that the country moves to a wrong path and the same percentage disapproves of the president and his administration policy. Already 92% of respondents estimated that Obama leads the country "toward socialism" (an opinion shared by more than half the population in general).

Moreover, the expressions of popular right-wing anger are registered when referencing more hate crimes, a rise of radical right-wing groups, as well as unofficial reports of a growing number of death threats against the president. Public safety agencies have raised the alert status for what is called "domestic terrorism."

"The United States is very lucky that no honest and charismatic figure has appeared, and if this were to happen this country would be in real trouble for the frustration, disillusionment and the justified anger combined with the absence of a coherent response," Chomsky concludes.

Well. For one thing, it's Pravda, the cheerleaders for the downfall of the West. For another thing, it's Noam Chomsky, for godsake.

Can someone explain what this part means? I understood the article and agree with much, but not sure how the rise of an honest, charasmatic figure would be trouble for America.

Well, which one of us is it going to be? If America needs an "honest and charismatic figure" to spearhead the Rise of the Far Right, I could take a shot at it. Without hesitation... Show me the proper channels for becoming a polarizing and transformative force in American History, yeah!

But, surely an honest and Charasmatic figure, would have appeal to all Americans, black and white. A racist, is not an honest person as they are perpetuating lies about the races. Was Hitler an honest and Charasmatic figure. Well he must have been Charasmatic, but was he honest or did he use lies and propaganda to get to his position.

he's basically saying the Revolution needs a leader
and so far nobody has stepped forward in that role
to his knowledge. Or at least that's what I
understand from it.

Hitler had an axe to grind, the boy was quite twisted, and he manipulated the emotions of the German people. THAT is how Hitler rose to power, riding a wave of anger.

The extreme Right wing has plenty of leaders. I listen to them on the radio all the time.
Some such as Mr. Beck seems to have plenty of Charisma; at least according to his ratings. I question his honesty though.

Palin, best the far right, Christian right, etc. has right now....

However I expect the GOP to have a strong showing in Nov. and that will quiet the right wing.

Its fairly clear here that Chom is baiting. Someones baiting. Some have been working so hard for years and now the fruit is set. They just need that "leader" to come out of the "right" to see the full flower of all their work blossom. They still need, as history has so often provided, that bad guy that Mr X, so they the left can say they told you so after working the thing into place. Political witchcraft.

Then you attack the contributor himself, Noam Chomsky, as being a disturbed old turd?

Not only have you lost all credibility with that discraceful allegation, but you have managed to deflect the attention away from your own thread to attack an 82 year old man, who, many would openly acknowledge as the leading political activist of our generation.

Didn't take long for race to pop up into this one either. Wow, well when the racist in office is out come 2012, I'm sure the next one will be just as racist. No matter who is in office now they will be a racist according to someone in the media......funny, racism exists in part because no one mans up enough to explain their particular views....so in in effect political correctness has made the r word a joke.
