or was (is) the calendar offset??

A truly somber and notable event, that led to what is arguably the biggest XXX rated block buster of all time, and Sir John Guilgood and Malcolm McDowel suing Penthouse owner and publisher Bob Gucioni for not disclosing to them that the movie Caligula was really just an elaborate Porno.

A timeless classic very much like Rome, not suitable for all members of the audience.

Own it on Blue Ray now!

It is quite interesting the hazzards one faced in ruling the empire. It would almost seem being the emperor is a thankless job.

Of course this is the drawback of holding a powerful office for life. The only way to get someone to vacate it is in death natural or otherwise.

Yet conversely because it was an office for life, people had much more reason to study the quality of the empreror and rise against him to end his rule if they felt it would be an unjust or bad one for the people.

In our modern day political system, bad leaders who enjoy elected periods to office of typically 4 to 6 years are simply waited out, as people wait for their term to expire to hopefully install a 'good' leader.

While the rule of one leader for a short period of time can be disasterous, the back to back rule of a succession of 'bad' leaders can really take a nation down hill, as each is left to serve out their term.

Of course having a 'shadow' government that rules in perpituity by corrupting the 'regular government' basically allows it to rule as it sees fit, simply discarding those public leaders as it goes along based on the publics election whims.

It's not to hard to see just why Rome morphed into an entity and power that is not easy to murder or rebel against based on what it learned over the course of time, when it comes to governing the masses.

Some great research as always my friend.

Greetings my fellow friends and Roman scholars.
As you might remember, I contracted an illness that caused incredibly high fevers accompanied by delusions and hallucinations. It was interesting to say the least.

But now, I have just returned from the Vision Quest (not too dissimilar from the movie), and I have a lot of catching up to do.
As well as many, thoughts to offer.

My painfully delusional fever induced beliefs left me on the mental precipice of death, and being back makes breathing air feel as if it were gently given by Aphrodite herself while blowing so gently and nibbling onto my ear, and pleasantly enough, waking up from this nirvana-esque dream makes one feel safely back at my home.
I wish all others of our fine crew nothing but unbridled joy.

I will soon being posting from where I left off, and hopefully it will not cover repeated topics, as I will try to take the time read each post since my recent departure.

A departure due to mass hallucinations induced by high fever.

(and some weird connection to the Gaian consciousness)

The only ultimate truth, which was shown to me in an altered state, is:

The more that I look in to this puzzle called life, the more that it becomes a set of fractal geometry that grok one single vision, macro and micro are like space/time. Everywhere that I look is the micro/macro fractal-ed vision that...All Roads Lead To Rome.

How could Julius Caesar, a genius and perhaps history's greatest military tactician, a general who never lost a battle, really walk blindly into a trap.....? Julius Caesar had access to high levels of intelligence. he ignored many warnings. He had a warning note clutched in his hand at the time of his ''supposedly'' death.....

- Why did he dismiss his bodyguard shortly before the Ides of March day of 44 B.C......?

- How could such a well informed man come to be killed in front of hundreds of witnesses at a senate gathering...?

- Why only few months before the Ides of March of 44 B.C. he filed his will, naming his grandnephew Gaius Octavius (Octavian) as the heir to everything, including his name....?

- Why in his will he gave alot of money to Rome's populace to assured the loyalty of the population of Rome.....?

Was it Julius Caesar, the mastermind behind the logistics to
assasinate him, an hoax....?
Was it all planned to gave Julius Caesar more power over the Empire....but why....?
Was he only severely injured and he waked up 1 week later in Seborga......?
Who knew the truth and could had been Julius Caesar accomplices....?
Was he secretly pulling the strings of power using his nephew ....?
Was he ruling the Empire from the shadow until 33 B.C......?

( full disclosure.... soon...)

The suspense is killing me!

The 'Caesar surviving' aspect of Proto's theory was the thing that most people has problems with because it was unsubstantiated. If it can be backed up with evidence then it will add an enormous amount of credence to this thread and the non-believers will really have no choice but to accept the reality of Rome's continued presence at the seat of power in our world for the last 2,000 years.

Nice presentation mick, although I think that taking your info as a whole, the above specific part of the scenario would be unlikely.

Far more likely that a very good "double" was put into play, and that the double died, and was cremated.

The next level of the deception was to fool even an "inner circle" into seeing Caesar as a true martyr, who also might have survived so miraculously because of something like "Fate". A long clandestine "recovery", for that particular consumption, would have played nicely to such ends. Today, the little-known "truth" of 322, still isn't even the whole truth.

BTW, even in modern times, many public figures utilize doubles of course, and that certainly includes the popes. Lots of interesting info on recent popes who have been replaced, duplicated, witnessed by credible people as being in two different places, etc. They're still playing that game!

Interestingly, the Bible speaks of this great "anti-christ" figure that is supposed to receive a mortal head injury, and yet recovers nonetheless. No doubt that when the time comes to make this "prophesy" come true, a double will be yet again employed, to fool the masses.

Looking forward to more of your info!

Displaced as it is. THis thread is impeccable as far as a conspricy goes. I do not believe all of it as anyone intelligent enough usually takes pieces of conspiracy to form their own opinion.

I suggest that faith is a the matter outside of this thread and although, we could announce Christianity as a fraud I must say that the scienero given in a historical context as Proto has supplied is brilliant, but none the less I have to throw a quarter in the bucket.

The New Testament is living proof of "ANTI GENTILE gospel" St John wanting Christ to burn down a village because they did not believe. Many accounts of intolerance towards the romes. Many of the apostles of Jesus believed that Christianity core beliefs should be in observance towards Jewish rituals. It was not until Paul came along and said "we should not do it like the jews". FUnny thing about Paul, he was pretty prejudice towards the apostles even calling them "those so called apostles". because he believed in his heart that pauls interpretation was the right way FOR GOD'S WAY. None the less, majority of new testament accounts still favors against Roman ruler ship. I cannot believe that the Romans created the entire New Testament just to devise the phrase as Christ put it "Give ceasar what is his".

If that doesn't place any real evidence, then I would ask why did Rome create such stories in many variation (john mark, epistles, peter, luke etc) just to say the same thing, that is (give rome what it wants). Once again, given rome money is never the main theme in any of these stories/beliefs/myths/truths. The Romans were horrible at story making. The greeks and hebrews were the best. And both these cultures did indeed barrow much from other civilizations as well.

We also have to place in accounts the ESSENE's as well. No one gives account to this sect during the period. The Essene were naturally awaiting for a Messiah and he appeared. Well, again we could argue this assumption, but I truly believe that the man who so called "created Christianity" could have stayed with the Essenes. seeing how majority of the rituals are based on Christ, teacher of righteousness and John the baptist.
My essene argument is not that well concrete or productive to my defense towards Christianity, but I assure you I am still reading the DSS

I disagree with majority of the theme that The new testament was a trick upon "gentiles" for the creation of a New world order.

Now why would that be, JR?

Well, for example, Many may believe that the book of revelation is not a prophecy, but a project, that has been named project blue beam. This project was "created" by the romans to subdue the world in the future when technology was advanced enough to deploy such so called prophecy.
But, here is the kicker, The catholic church has suppressed technology for about 1500 years or so. So, in conclusion if project bluebeam was a roman project created in the future for world domination in a time where technology could create such a feat, why would catholics suppress technological advancement?

First I want to touch on the notion that Christianity is a tool to in essence fool the 'Gentiles".

The average Jewish person has suffered and died just as often and just as horribly with no real understanding or recollection of Rome's plan either, so in my humble opinion this is not a plan that favors Jews or Gentiles, but one that favors the Oligarghs, Patricians, Pharisees and Nobles.

Since most of Israel will be presumably destroyed in this final consuming act, that sure doesn't seem to be something that would benefit the Jews living there, and they sure aren't sacrificing them selves to the plan. So when it comes to Rome's deceptions they are equal opportunity decievers.

Your next question is if Top Secret Projects like Blue Beam are going to be used to mimic Biblical Prophecy why did Rome supress technology during the period known as the dark or middle ages.

The question is easily answered by this period was used to stamp out the pagan religions of Europe.

Part of what made the Christian God seem real was that the promise of Rome the technology of Rome had been taken away by God because the Romans were wicked and evil, with their hot and cold running water, coed baths and temples where people often fornicated, and their monumental structures where blood sport was often used to entertain the masses, Rome had abused it's technological advancements and proof that God existed was in that these technologies fell into obsoletion and disuse.

However once Europe was Christianized creating an homgenous mass, then technology was slowly reintroduced primarily as a means to help the Christians impose Christianity on the rest of the non-European world.

So it all absolutely makes sense when you consider what else was happening and needed to happen first.

Proto, where do the essene sect fall in all of this mess by the way? I do not think that Christianity was to "fool" the gentiles, although I can obviously see why you say so. Again, it is always an opinion or what one may think. I stand where I stand and ados to yours stance as well. Please further describe the Essene sect movement that would probably tie all of this together

I don't actually see where the Essene sects or Zadokites or any of the other varied fractitious and warring Jewish sects had any greater bearing on Rome's plan than any other, other then all together they displayed how much political turmoil existed in a monotheistic society.

Those divisions of course being ideal for keeping a society fighting amongst itself instead of the government.

Essene beliefs while slightly different than some of the other Jewish Sects and borrowing some elements from other religions appear to be little more than a random notion you perhaps have latched on to, as many do, thinking that this is somehow all religious in nature, and that there is one true religion or path to God or enlightment or ascension to be had.

The Jews simply had (supposedly) one monotheistic system that revolved around one God and leaders that were willing to work with Rome in the theft of that God and the supplanting of Rome's preexisting Gods to use it as the basis of a new Political System.

The long and short of it is boys and girls is yes, you are stuck on a rock floating in space and have absolutely no clue how you got here, why you are here, what it all means, what it's all for, or what if anything happens when you die, and there is every indication to believe that yes you will die and your life will be temporary.

So you are looking externally for some answer to that, something to shed some light on it all, something to make sense of it all, something in which to believe and have faith in, and some hope that as crazy and strange and bad as life on this rock can be, that if you follow some 'proper' path, that it will all work out great for you in the end.

Lot's of luck there and with the bigger universal picture, yet the truth remains that the societal constructs that frame most of our reality the banking, the legal, the history, the religious, all are handed to us from and through Rome.

Many of the universal and spiritual questions you and many others have in fact can't be answered except by a God actually existing along the lines you imagine they exist and answering themselves. While Rome can answer no doubt it's deceptions and thefts, that of course requires compelling Rome to do so.

The universal and spiritual questions many people have in fact can not be answered externally, and that is why no one really has real answers for them, because people are taught to look externally through study or argument for answers that exist in them internally.

So all you find though that is disinformation and confusion, false hope, and a fear, that you might still not have it quite right which makes you go looking to see if maybe someone somewhere at some point in time did.

Right now primarily Rome operates as a impendence and hinderence against your own natural evolution through the societal constructs it has invented to rule the world through a shadow government that corrupts all others.

My advice is simply to recognize that, get rid of Rome the Shadow Government and create something better to restart the free evolution of the species.

What do the Essene have to do with that? Not a thing.

I beg to differ proto on your quick assumption about the Essene. They were indeed the proto-christianity of the time and should be taken very seriously. Much debate is on the idea that John The baptist was one as well. This is also indeed if you believe in the Gospel/myth/legend/lore etc etc. You tend to underplay some key characters in the story and their traits at least and only take direct specific quotes from the bible to serve your purpose. Which is fine.

here is my source Philo, Josephus condensed in sub catagories of Essene
"The breaking of bread was a veritable ordinance among the Essenes."
This was a major ritual done by the Essenes before Christ, obviously this echos the verse in the NT that implies the body and blood of Christ, the similiarities are striking, are they not?

So, to push this sect of Judaism is probably the worst thing ever to do when discussing Christianity, at least the core christians.

Also, before the church and rome were backing up Christianity, the original Christians during the 1st century were women. Yes, more women were embracing the christian faith before man stepped up and took it as a power. It should be considered heavily how women were treated in such ages, they did not go to school and were taught this spiritual lessons.

Things are not that cut and dry, many holes within the stories of history have been erased, forgotten, misinterpreted or miscalculated. I see plot holes.

Just another 2 cents from me

I have to agree with Proto on this one Jordan River. What is mostly known about the actual day to day life of the Essenes was gathered from the translation of the Copper Scroll by John Allegro (a name that I have made notorious in this thread).

He was obviously known for being a maverick in terms of his defiance of the Vatican regarding publishing his findings from his interpretations of the scrolls (an act which basically excommunicated him from his profession due to his defiance of the catholic church).

A link to Allegro, once again, for all interested

One must remember that...

The Dead Sea Scrolls are a collection of 972 documents, including texts from the Hebrew Bible, discovered between 1946 and 1956 in 11 caves in and around the ruins of the ancient settlement of Qumran on the northwest shore of the Dead Sea.

link to source

But due to the disturbing and mostly contradictory nature of their contents their publishing was delayed until the 1990's. This is believed by some to be because the Essenes were essentially Gnostic in their belief system and apparently they held a great sway over the ever mythical Jesus.

But the point that Proto is making is that even back in the day, the tactic of divide and conquer was being used.

And while yes Josephus did write about the Essenes, his loyalties and "truthiness" can be called into question, in my humble opinion.

Yes, the Essenes were viewed by some to be the precursors to the modern christian church...

It never ceases to amaze me in my studies, the overall failure of Christian commentators to be acquainted with the evolution of the Essenes and their religious doctrines, dogmas, philosophies from generation to generation. It seems as if the vast majority of writers on the Essenes read Josephus, Philo, or Pliny and believe these accounts are a realistic view of this theologically complex group of apocalyptists. An unbiased study of the Essenes will show that this group grew by gradual stages, from a Judaizing program at the beginning into an esoteric cult of celibate-communist apocalytpists at the end which had repudiated Judaism to a wide extent. Serious investigation into these Essenes will reveal how they were able to create in secrecy the elements, which, according to accepted Christian history, were proclaimed for the first time to an astonished public by John the Baptist and Jesus of Nazareth. Their secret doctrines were now for the first time being publicly proclaimed to the masses. The story of the Essenes is in reality the story of Christianity. Many writers, including Martin Larson, Dupont-Sommer, Edmund Wilson, John M. Allegro, Robert Eisenmann, L. Schiffman, M. Burrows, G. Vermes, and many others, have given vivid intimations of this. The knowledge gleaned from these men and their research into Essene history as well as their religious doctrines, gives unsuspected light upon the origin of Christianity and the career of its founder, as well as that of a predecessor, the Teacher of Righteousness.

link to source

But who REALLY holds sway over Christian doctrine. Rome and the Pope.

That is why it took 40 years to publish the dead sea scrolls.

If one looks at what was happening back then, it is no different than the many protestant factions that split the church today.
A ploy that works in favor of the Roman Catholic Church.

Always remember the motto of Caesar...

Divide and Conquer.

And I have found some of the best team members around.
If this is a team, then it is absolutely my pleasure to be a part of it.

You guys all rock and are some of the best and brightest here at ATS.

Man... It really feels good to be back.

AugustusMasonicus is right, Julius Caesar indeed lost a match against Vercingetorix in 54 bc but not the Battle of the Gallic Wars which was won by Julius Caesar.

The Gallic Wars culminated in the decisive Battle of Alesia in 52 BC, in which a complete Roman victory resulted in the expansion of the Roman Republic over the whole of Gaul. The wars paved the way for Julius Caesar to become the sole ruler of the Roman Republic.

Vercingetorix surrendered to Julius Caesar after being defeated at the Battle of Alesia in 52 BC, after which he was imprisoned for five years. In 46 he was paraded through Rome as part of Caesar's triumph before being executed. Vercingetorix is primarily known through Caesar's Commentarii de Bello Gallico.

The history of ancient Roman civilization is very interesting and well represented on the Internet.

'' History is the witness that testifies to the passing of time; it illuminates reality, vitalizes memory, provides guidance in daily life, and brings us tidings of antiquity. '' (Cicero)
