Here's an article about Boston experiencing a shortage of water. 2 million people are affected.

news.yahoo.com...

This shows how important it is to have extra water on hand. I don't want to be out in the chaos when everyone else is panicking. I thought this just happened in smaller places, not a huge city like Boston!

Thanks for this thread. I'm putting water in huge barrels. I won't drink this stuff, but at least it'll come in handy in case I need it for other purposes.

Thanks for the info!

Monolithic Domes have a "just water ceramic drip- filter" designed to be used in areas where water is a problem. It seems to be as good as the Berkley water systems but lots cheaper. It costs $23.50 plus you need to buy 2 same size plastic buckets. You can use the large plastic containers coffee comes in but they don't hold much water.

Thanks. This would be a great way to filter rain water. It would also be good as a first step before using a traditional water filter so you don't clog up your filter. It would make your water filter last longer when you are using really "dirty" water.

Great resource! Thanks! I have seen the book "Where There is no Doctor" and it is a handy resource. This is by the same people. Covers all kind of useful info. Thanks!
