I'm working on a list of alternatives:

1. BELIE ignorance

2. "provide examples, please"

3. "The Truth Is In Here"

4. "Not all of the information on this site is completely untrue"

5. "Cash Prizes! Amaze your friends! Hypnotize your boss---or HER!"

6. "There's a seeker born every minute"

7. "Plausible Denial"

8. "How High Does It Really Go?"

9. "Turn Insight Out"

10. "Juniper Three"

How about the expression from X-files "The truth is out there somewhere", or maybe just "Seeking Truth"

I'd prefer something more like from the Terminator, where the robot says, "I'll be coming right back, baby" because everyone on ATS is always coming back.

Hows about:

Think critically

You could even have a question mark after the critically for added effect.

The problem has never been the motto- only those who fail to understand it.

How about

"We are not one of you"

That is something that this site motto should be.

How about.... "Deny Ignorance".

Meh..Too late they already thought of a good one.

But personally I don't see a single reason to change the motto as it suits what we are trying to do (which is deny ignorance) and it's short and easy to remember.

Perfect motto.

ATS - Quality Conspiratorial Content.

ATS - Awakening the masses (Or sheeple if you wanted a double acronym
)

ATS - Go against the grain

ATS - The site you've been searching for

ATS - Disinformation Destruction since (add year here)

ATS - A place your voice will be heard

ATS - The last Bastion of Truth on the web

I could go on and on.... But I wont bore you.

I like the current "Motto" TBH.

Peace

I've always thought the moto was a bit ambiguous.

Deny Ignorance could very well mean what we all think it means.

Or it could very well mean to deny that you are in fact ignorant yourself...just deny it and keep on going. Sometimes I think some members follow this definition more than the intended one.

Because technically if you use the definition of "deny"...the phrase "deny ignorance" would mean you are saying "ignorance" is not true and you don't believe in it.

I always thought "Defy Ignorance" or "Despise Ignorance" would be a better fit.

I think that is a good substitute: "Defy Ignorance." Clearer and easier to grasp.

"ATS - Defying Ignorance since 2001"?

Defy sounds less formal, which gives the motto a more casual feel.

It seems more than a few members either do not like it, or find it is ambiguous. This does not mean they do not understand what it means.

(But a fairly decent under-handed attempt to insult those who do not like the phrase.)

We should change it to "clock out and keep working" because we all love living under our fearless reptilian overlords, such a joy it is to be a slave in our glorious system praise be to chem trails and dis info agents. To be able to serve our corporate masters unquestionably gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling, nothing like the smell of harp in the mornin

The above is a clear example of not denying ignorance.

I like it how it is.

I disagree,

As somebody pointed out on the first page, Deny Ignorance is not only a Motto, it's a core value of this website, it's what has made ATS the place it is today.

It should remain exactly the same.

Hell it's almost a lifestyle choice
.

I cannot take credit for the words posted, they were written long ago and still hold the same power for me that they had when I read them the first time.

The motto was presented in June of 2004 in a thread which is now found in the archive by a member named tjack, the mission statement was authored by none other than our own Skeptic Overlord.

In context of the entire presentation, the motto Deny Ignorance becomes quite clear, I am guessing that there are quite a few members who have never read the original, so please take a couple of minutes to read a part of ATS history

2nd post to reiterate vote to keep existing. And to add most of the other good ones are already taken:

Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. - Timex
Reach out and touch someone - AT&T
Beef, it's what's for dinner. - Am. Beef Institute
Breakfast of Champions - Wheaties
Because Change Happens - Zurich Insurance
A mind is a terrible thing to waste - United Negro College Fund
Between love and madness lies Obsession. - Calvin Klein
So easy a caveman can do it. - GEICO
Because you’re worth it. - L'Oreal
It keeps going and going and going. - Energizer Batteries
It's everywhere you want to be - VISA
Connecting people. - Nokia

That's all I got. Besides, Deny Ignorance trumps all those.

Regards...kk

How about:

ATS - Become a professional* dis-info agent as soon as you post!
*(ATS wishes to advise that this is not a paid position).

...

Kind of like a sub-motto thing to Deny Ignorance.

Viva La Revolución

I think the present motto is fine.

I'm in favor of changing it. The vast majority of people posting on this site are, in fact, highly ignorant. For every example of denied ignorance, there are at least 20 examples of science, logic, and tangible fact that are denied by people who will do, say, believe, and discard anything in order to preserve whatever world view they've constructed for themselves.

Then, these people who refuse to listen to or believe the evidence that has been laid before them will inevitably respond to "Oh yeah, well you need to Deny Ignorance!" The ATS catch phrase is actually being used to dismiss knowledge in favor of ignorance whenever that knowledge points to the slightest possibility that not everything is part of the exact conspiracy theory that each particular member has adopted as their own.

I think ATS needs a motto that actually describes the site, rather than one that members can use as a last ditch effort to arbitrarily reject any information they disagree with. Maybe they should go with "ATS: Discovering Truth," "ATS: Another Voice," or "ATS: Yes, we believe in shape shifting lizard people, weather machines, and invisible planets."
