wow people, calm down! It was a metaphor. I didn't realize how spiritual so many people were on this site. When i joined this i thought this was a conspiracy website.

I obviously don't mean real Gods, like they are built different from you and me. I meant it as who are important people that you follow in the conspiracy research area.

Lighten up, i wish i could edit the title to be less offensive, i really didn't think this site was so protective over the word "GOD".

I don't think it's the GOD part that bothers people, it's most likely that idolization part.

That's the same thing though isn't it? lol

You can edit the post if you want.

Just go to the original and click edit and edit the title
.

Were not offended, at least I'm not, had you said leaders that probably would have garnered a better response.

tis quite a line to cross between admiring/respecting and calling one a "god". I'll reserve my title of "god" for an infinitely complex entity that is everything. Would that be pantheist? I'm not even sure not that I care. Either way I would use different terminology. Just my opinion.
Edit: point already made. cheers.

I believe after 24 hours you can not edit a post. I have tried a few times and can not do it.

BTW i live close to DC and if you walk around and look at all the statues, i assure you that are 100's of "GODS" in our nations capital. Almost every GOD or GODDESS in ancient times has a statue there. Even the presidents are seen as GOD like.

Ohh I agree about that, I just don't think it's right.

As for the edit, you can ask a mod to edit for you if it's been more than 24 hours.

An Atheist classifying someone as a god, that makes me chuckle. Well this thread is committed to the subject visibly outlined in the OP so I will do as asked.

I don’t consider them gods in the definitions you have stated, so I will simply call them illuminators.
*Bill Maher
*Christopher Hitchin
*Richard Dawkins
* Dylan Ratigan

Those 4 people are all enlightened individuals who have dedicated their life to spreading knowledge, reason and intelligent debate.

rickrolled, lol yes.

The whole point of this thread was to give people a chance to let others know about people's research that they think is the truth and to introduce others to these people. If you look at how i posted, i gave information on why i enjoy their work and gave examples. That is what i wanted people to do. Introduce the people that are not accepted by the Mainstream Media.

Gods?.... All of those people are men, and please don't get me started with Socialist Michael Moore...

BTW, are people that ignorant that they forget that CAPITALISM has been the economic form of power that has existed ever since mankind lived in communities?.... Not everyone can learn, or has the time to do all the services needed for a community to survive... For example, you need hunters, you need farmers, bread makers, cooks, potery makers, etc, etc.

Since ancient times a person who had a skill would trade products with another person who had some other skill... Guess what that is?.... It is CAPITALISM, a free market...

Socialism is not a natural economic/government because people have to unwillingly give up their rights. Meanwhile in Capitalism you can keep your rights and help others if you can, and if you want.

Socialism, and Communism destroy individuality, and freedom. Yes I know that corporations have taken over but guess what?... In the U.S. it was thanks to a PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRAT, Woodrow Wilson, that the economy was given to bankers and the rich elite. It was he who also created the IRS as it exists today.

Democrats also love to increase taxes, and the Obama administration wants to do just that in a time when millions of Americans have lost their jobs because of the "made up crisis" to make Americans accept the Socialist dictatorship, I mean their Socialist utopia....

Native americans used to trade with other tribes BEFORE the white man came to the shores of the New World, but for some reason there is this claim that they were Socialists....

Native Americans did not like to give away their freedoms.. Heck they FOUGHT against the white man and against the "greater good of the mayority" which happened to be the white man after they arrived...

There is a BIG difference between unwillingly allowing your freedoms to be taken away, which is Socialism and Communism, and WILLINGLY helping your community, your friends and family if you can, and want.

Ancient tribes lived in small communities, not on large ones with strangers. They knew EVERYONE, and everyone else was either very good friends, and or family members. But they wouldn't give away their rights for the rights of a bigger tribe even in their best of days.

Anyway, this thread, and the op is sounding too much like the Liberal/Democrat who on television claimed "Obama is like God, he is above everyone, and above the country"...

You know what? I respect everybody on the list friend. Quite the good one at that.

I'm a big ffan of Bill Maher and Dylan Ratigan, how Dylan still has a show on MSNBC after the stuff he says is beyond me.

Kind of makes me think MSNBC might win the Media War if they start continuously telling the truth and have more anchors like him.

OH wait, gods don't necessarily have to be honorable, there were gods that were considered evil.

Still thinking.

I like that, that was beautiful. See? This isn't that hard people.

I'll add mother Mother to the list too. She recently passed away and encouraged me to do what i love. She also showed me how important animals are and that in turn made me love animals and nature. I want to help save animals because of her.

Thanks Tuatha!

This thread is not about arguing, it's about sharing the people you enjoy learning from. Please give us an example of someone you enjoy reading about or listening to.

I was kidding, of course.

I'll think about this and post a bit later - ATS is running really slow for me right now and it's a bit frustrating.

Good question, though.

There are lots of people I have learned from, but NONE of them will I ever consider to be a "God" or "Goddess", and since you asked "who do you consider to be your Gods", I will have to disagree with you.

Even though you didn't mention Obama, this sounds way too much to the claims made by Evan Thomas.

Newsweek editor Evan Thomas brought adulation over President Obama’s Cairo speech to a whole new level on Friday, declaring on MSNBC: "I mean in a way Obamas standing above the country, above – above the world, hes sort of God."

newsbusters.org...

There is a very dangerous road you take when people start seeing others, including strangers they don't really know as "Gods" and or "Goddesses".
