May I suggest an update to your particular layout....
Rather than a triangular layout, a layout more akin to the star of David i.e., two triangles would allow for more coverage in defense with little possibility of blind spots in a traditional triangular layout.
I would also suggest in this order, village center > food production > Tool production > homes > troops for defense.
Let me know what your opinion on that is.

Obviously you would want the leaders most protected. but food should come second and skill sets third followed by villagers being protected by military. Without food, villagers cannot properly work their skills and without military protecting all, leaders will fall.
