A secretive group linked to a leading European chemical company has joined the campaign to defeat Barack Obama's green agenda, taking the fight beyond the traditional players –the big oil and coal firms – the Guardian has learned.

The previously unknown Coalition for Responsible Regulation Inc (CRR) is at the forefront of a strategy to strip the Obama administration of its powers to regulate greenhouse gas emissions should Congress fail to act on climate change.

What do you guys make of this?

A group which refuses to divulge it's membership is able to:


has joined more than a dozen states and a host of industry groups in 17 legal challenges to the authority of the Environmental Protection Agency.


How does that happen exactly?
How can you be so very secretive while....... being so visible and active in a dozen states and a host of industry groups?

How does that work, and how come that question isn't being raised by the guardian?

Abbott Laboratories' (ABT) first-quarter earnings dropped 30% partly due to the U.S. health-overhaul legislation, while sales rose nearly 15% on solid gains for drugs, medical devices and nutritional products.

The Abbott Park, Ill., company slightly lowered its full-year 2010 earnings forecast to reflect the recent enactment of U.S. health overhaul legislation.

Overall, sales growth accelerated for many Abbott products during the first quarter. Although much of the company's growth has come from its top-selling product, arthritis treatment Humira, Abbott has diversified its business and made several acquisitions recently to reduce its dependence on Humira. In February, it closed the $6.2 billion purchase of Solvay Pharmaceuticals, which Abbott says will expand its business in emerging markets.

Abbott needs no effects of Healthcare legislation to effect a drop in sales. They have legal liability issues coming to a head unlike most anyone else.
