While shopping at a local unclaimed freight shop today, I can across several 1 gallon cans of freeze dried foods for $3.99 each. I bought a trunk full.

I plan on going back tomorrow to clean them out

The exp date on the things I bought was 10/2024...so I think I am good there...

As far as it being appetizing, Some of my favorite rations while in the military were freeze dried...and if you are hungry you will eat ANYTHING!

I don't know about this, 3.99 for a gallon of what? Now a gallon of chicken soup sounds good. But just trying to picture what a gallon of pizza or any other solid food does not sound as good.

What the hell are you talking about Private..? Freeze dried..? If you served in Vietnam or before, I could see how you would fancy a Wet Ration...

But chances are the only meals you enjoyed in the military were Mess Hall, MRE's (dehydrated, not freeze dried), E Club grub, the Gut truck and/or a combination of canned foods that can be hidden in the ruck for the field...

The Mormons and roaches will outlive us all...

Sound like you got a shipment to a Mormon family that got lost in transit.
or a shipment to one of there Wards or stakes.

Look on the cans for something related to the LDS church comes from Utah or to see if it has about a 12 years shelf life

Does they have plain printed labels not one that are high quality printing.
look up the company on the internet and see if its a LDS approved food supply.(most Mormons buy from Mormon suppliers)

If you find any of the above you really scored because the Mormon dry packed food are some of the best there is.

I have to get another can of there powdered cheese.
You can coat frozen french fries with the powdered cheese. Some garlic powder, A little parsley flakes and drop them in the deep fat fryer.
Another good one is cheese powder with a little Chile powder on french fries
Best french fries you will find.

What the hell are you talking about?...MRE's in the 80's had freezedried goods in them. I am sure that some of the new ones may still. The freezedried beefpatty and pork was better than just about anything you might receive in a mess hall. Not to mention the fruit cocktail...it was better than candy. But you would have had to of eaten one to know that.

I was horribly disappointed when they discontinued them.
