Where to begin…As many of you know the Old Testament and New Testament are profoundly related. It is still the case that many new Old Testament
concepts are seen to be a shadow of what was fulfilled in the New Testament or even in the future. I think I have found one such example.
There are three festivals or religious feast that Jewish men are supposed to keep during the year. These three will be explained in there context in
three ways. First according to the Old Testament. Second, according to the New Testament. Finally, according to the second advent of Christ.
The three feasts are Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacle (feast of booths). In regard to Passover, many of you may know the story, but I will briefly
explain. Passover is a celebration to remember the event that took place in Egypt in which the death angel passed over each Jewish house that had
blood painted on the door post. Their first born sons and livestock were spared. Passover also celebrates the barley harvest. Harvests are VERY
important in symbolism. That will be seen in a moment. Passover falls in the spring time. Hence Easter
This is fulfilled in the New Testament because Jesus became the Passover lamb. He was sacrificed in order that men may live. Not only that but whereas
the first born where spared because of the blood, God’s first born was sacrificed in order that we might be spared.
The next feast is Pentecost which is a celebration of the wheat harvest for the Jews. It is called Pentecost because it is fifty (penta) days after
Passover. This is important because Jesus ministered AFTER his resurrection for 40 days. On Pentecost is when the Holy Spirit feel on the disciples in
order for the church to be born. This feast also falls in the spring.
That just leaves one feast. The Feasts of Booth (Tabernacle) This feast is a celebration of the
wine harvest, and this is it’s future
significance. In the book of Revelation 14:9 God says,
“If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he also will drink the wine of God's
wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the
presence of the Lamb.
Again from Revelation 19:15
From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the
winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of
lords.
And even again Revelation 14:19
19 So the angel swung his sickle across the earth and gathered the grape harvest of the earth and threw it into the great winepress of the
wrath of God. 20 And the winepress was trodden outside the city, and blood flowed from the winepress, as high as a horse's bridle, for 1,600
stadia.
Does anyone know when the Feast of Booths is?? It is in the fall/winter. It falls in either late September or late October. What does Jesus have to
say about this?
Matthew 24:20
Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the
beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be.
Every Old Testament feast has a GREATER meaning. The Passover has a more robust fulfillment in Christ. Pentecost has a more robust fulfillment in the
churches birth by the falling of the Holy Spirit. Finally, The Feast of Booths will have a more robust fulfillment in the second advent of Christ.
I will leave you with this. “Tabernacle” means God dwelling among us. During the second advent Christ will dwell on this earth for 1000 years. It
is a DUEL fulfillment. Christ will harvest the grapes of his wrath AND establish His “tabernacle” here on earth. I am convinced that these things
will happen in the winter time of a year very soon. Look to see if things begin to ramp up in the years to come in September or October. Use this
info wisely.
