I think the "cutie" and "hottie" designations are tongue-in-cheeck. Although I agree with many (including a lot of men, which I appreciate) that calling them that is sexist, it seems to me the creators of the show are deliberately NOT being politically correct and not bowing to what seems to a lot of people like a movement that has no sense of humor.

Like it or not, we live in a "post feminist" world. That means one in which many of the goals of the original women's movement have already been achieved. Like it or not many women now don't feel they need to belong to a movement or challenge every statement in order to be treated as equals.

If Asala and AshleyD don't object to being defined in terms of sex appeal, then neither do I. I wouldn't have chosen those terms to describe them, but it certainly won't keep me from watching.

Thank you for the new addition. May I suggest that if possible you can provide a low bandwith video..at the moment it takes a long time buffering and then watching the video due to bad internet connection. I think it will really help a lot of people if we can view the video fast.

Secondly, if that's not possible perhaps a "Transcript" of every video so we can read it. I couldn't watch the video now due to high quality and long update time but as some posters have said about trouble understanding accent it may help if a transcript can be provided with every video.

=====
(Transcript) For Eg:
19h April 2010
A: "Hello, Welcome to ATS Conspiracy today we are going to discuss about....."
B: "This week Aliens landed on on the lawn of White House..."
=====

Thanks to Asala and Ashley who are devoting their time on this.
As for other people who see this is somewhat bad because females are presenting the video, perhaps it would help if you take them as fellow members and not as male or females. That's what I do, hope it helps.

This is all of us

2) The one chick is hard to understand...I'm not going to bash her...but if you deny that she is hard to understand...then you are just trying to protect her. But this chick wasn't picked because of her speaking skills...right? She wasn't even picked for her intelligence. This chick is a "cutie" who may get some non-conspiracy men to watch (probably with the volume down in a dark room with thier pants off)....but hey...ATS will still get the click count for their advertisements.

Then what the bloody hell was that??
You know what if your views of them have dropped then it's your loss because you obviously don't know these LADIES well enough.

How the fricking heck do you know one of them was not picked for their intelligence... Have you even spoken to one of them??

To be honest, ATS is meant to be a place where people can express their opinions and do it in a manner in which is respectable. If you don't like it then simply don't watch the show and keep your nasty comments to yourself.

To Asala & AshleyD congratulations & best wishes. You both are so deserving.

Unfortunately we live in a Man's world. ATS is most likely predominately male. I mean the ad before the video was for extreme fighting. So as a female who frequents a male oriented site I accept the way men are targeted. Is this wrong? I can only say I like it about as much as the way advertisers target women. Both are BS imo.

While I don't much care for the "chicks" title or the British Cutie/Texas Hottie references I don't think it was meant to take away from the intelligence of these women. Certainly they aren't bothered by such titles so why should we? Asala & AshleyD have shown they have far more to contribute than their looks. The fact they look so good is just icing on the cake.

By the way Asala did a wonderful job. I understood her perfectly. I just love British accents. Don't change a thing. The international flavor is one of the things I love about this site. I did notice the ad loaded in no time but the rest of the video was a little slow. I have never watched any of the ATS shows because of my connection but I will tune into this new show from time to time.

As a woman of ATS I'm glad to see women on the forefront.
ATS has to target the male majority here. Viewers are needed to justify the costs. Maybe you could say the site is trying to cash in on a couple pretty faces but it will be their intelligence and good natures that holds the audience.

those chicks can tease me anytime...

This should be a nice new addition to ATS, I only feel kind of bad for Johnny Anonymous, I guess in the end sex appeal trumps a nice guy with yellow hair

I'm not a fan of it. ATS is using mainstream media promo tactics. sex sells

can I ask a question to everyone against this initiative?

what's the big deal?
eye of the beholder!!!

Tell me what's the difference between calling it Conspiracy Chics and if it was men Conspiracy Dudes.

What's the difference?

Because "some" people use chics in a derogatory sense it now HAS to be meant in that same fashion?

Chics is slang for lady, dude is slang for fellow
So.... what's the big deal?

I'm positive nobody would be against calling it "Conspiracy Dudes".

I think some people just like to be in opposition just to portray themselves like "hey look at me, I stand on moral grounds".

It's no big deal, I can't wait for the first episode

Well I'm hear to tell you this trailer park denizen is buyin.

I thought the two gals came across as about what I would expect.

The production value could use a little tweaking.

This new show is going to be AWESOME! I have to say that I'm really looking forward to it.

Please pay no attention to the naysayers who have done nothing but spew their negativity all over this new project. The egotistical vibe of their posts just goes to show the concieted nature of people who fancy themselves to be enlightended. From their high-horses they spew forth their ASSumptions that the presentation and style of this new project will detract from the quality of the intellectual content. Futhermore, they also ASSume that this will attract "less intelligent" people to ATS. Which just goes to show what a low opinion they have of people who have yet to be informed on many of these alternative topics. I will therefore make no apologies in saying that the naysayers have shown themselves to be arrogant, shallow, and closed-minded.

Upon watching the promo, I did NOT find any part of it to be particularly sexual at all. A bit sensational? Perhaps. Stylish? Definately! But that's the point of the whole thing. Personally, I think it's a great concept. Ashley and Asala have been top contributors of excellent content on ATS for quite some time now. I believe this new show of their's will add to their credibility rather than detract from it.

As SkepticOverlord has already pointed out, most of the alternative media tends to be too dark and angry in their approach. This is partly due to the fact that the nature of the content itself tends to be quite dark and depressing. I think it will be a refreshing change to see the content delivered and analyzed in a way that is more stylish, light-hearted, and personable.

Congratulations and much gratitude to Asala and Ashley for their work on this new project. I think it will be a huge success.

Double standards anyone?

You make a point of calling them LADIES because you are offended by a member calling them chicks, when that is exactly the title that has been allocated to them- or should I say, chosen or okay'd by them.

So, why are you offended by a member calling them "chicks" if that is what you have been defending the entire time?

If you don't like the term "chicks" I suggest you take it up with Skeptic Overlord.

Well as a woman of ATS and a woman staffer and a fellow conspiracy chic - im glad to have them represent me and ATS.

I know them on a ATS level and a personal level and there is nothing negative that can be justly said about them.

Applause to them!

Well! speak for yourself my friend! j/k

I have met plenty of those in my life - and I love them all!

No seriously! I understand what you are trying to say here!

Double standards, I think not.

I have no problem with the word "chicks". But when a member is using the name as a form of an insult then I get pissed off.

You can either like it or dislike it. There is no right or wrong answer. But when they get personal and insult these ladies that's just plain rude.

I can't understand why people keep suggesting that us that don't agree with it, have something against Asala and Ashley.

We don't! We just don't understand why sexist terms had to be used for them when their intelligence and dedication to ATS should have been enough.

Then what the bloody hell was that??
You know what if your views of them have dropped then it's your loss because you obviously don't know these LADIES well enough.

No...I don't know these CHICKS very well...and that is kind of the whole point. They want to use this to try to attract new blood to the conspiracy world...so they won't know them either. And their first impression isn't going to be "intelligent"...it is going to be "hottie conspiracy chick".

There are two possibilities. These chicks came up with the idea themselves...so they decided they are better off selling the idea of sex rather than their intelligence. OR the ATS staff decided it was better to sell them as sex rather than intelligence.

If the first case is true...I definately have a lower opinion of them because these chicks would also have a low opinion of themselves.

If the second case is true...then I have a lower opinion of these chicks because they went along with it rather than fighting against it. They freely accepted teh title of "hottie", "cutie" and "chick"...not a very strong person in my mind. Maybe they can wear a hooters like outfit if the ATS staff thinks it will bring in more viewers? Heck...why not nude? When will these chicks stand up for themselves and draw the line?

How the fricking heck do you know one of them was not picked for their intelligence... Have you even spoken to one of them??

That is kind of the point of all the negative comments about this. NO ONE would assume they were picked for anything else than being "chicks" and someone in power at ATS thinking they are a "cutie" and a "hottie" by watching that trailer. Just like I don't think porn stars are in a porn movie for their acting skills or that a hooters girl is actually just a great waitress.

To be honest, ATS is meant to be a place where people can express their opinions and do it in a manner in which is respectable. If you don't like it then simply don't watch the show and keep your nasty comments to yourself.

You see them as nasty because it is your sister...right?

If that chick wants to put herself out there as a sex object to discuss what a lot of people on ATS regard as very very serious topics...then don't be surprised when she gets negative comments by those who don't agree with it. This whole thing, to me, seems like a joke that unfortunatly damages the image of both ATS and of the two chicks.

BTW...do you like me refering to your sister as a chick all the time???

If you cannot tell the difference between the casual use of chicks and using the word "chicks" in a patronizing way while demeaning the persons in the same line, then there is absolutely zero point in explaining it. That's not a double standard, that's a basic of comprehension skills.

---

My congratulations to both of our wonderful Conspiracy Chicks! Can't wait to see you all on the screen more and to see a large opportunity for the members to get their voice out to the world!

Ashley and Asala are great chicks for the job.

Us gals have been called many names chick is the least of our worries.

I honeslty don't think you have the right to stop anyone calling them "chicks"....that's what they wanted to be called, right?

And if you agree that it can be used as an insult....well, is it so hard for you to understand that some of us consider it an insult altogether. It's your sister....don't you think she deserves a little more respect

I think he just won the argument right there. This show wasn't made for friends, it was made to attract new members, and unfortunately that will be exactly how they see it.
