Even before seeing the image I already knew what it would be.

I think I found the source for that photo and posted it on another thread.

That area is Ophir Chasma.

Edit: here is your post, from November 2007, and here is your source.

It was more than 2 years ago.

I think that the first is new to me, but I have seen the second before, here on ATS.

Do you have the IDs for those photos?

I see...

rocks.

seriously... they have nothing special, they're rocks. Just like the ones we have, but... well martian rocks. They're "alien" rocks nevertheless but... still rocks.

We have a lot of interesting "odd shaped rocks" here on earth, you dont really need to go to mars to find them.

heres the mars gallery i said i would make. i had to remove alot of photos that were in it, of various other planets, charts and graphs and other rocky heavenly bodies, most of which i don't know the name for. in fact, i'm not sure all of these are from mars, but i tried to isolate it to just martian images

if you want to see the full image of any of these, just right click the thumbnail and select "Open link in new window", which should be the first choice in the top of the right click menu. the full image will open in a new browser (in firefox, that is, not sure about internet explorer or netscape)

i'm assuming since the 3d chiasma was from jpl, that the rest of these must be as well.

The two images in this comparison were taken in Erebus crater back in 2005. They show a surface shortly (hours) after being ground with the rat tool and then that same surface again approximately 3 days later:

*Note the spots in the first image and lichen-like growth in the second.

This is an image of lichens in their early stages:

And just so you know, this is not only an image of a lichen, but of one which has begun to grow on a rock full of fossils here on earth. I thought it made a good comparison shot for this Erebus grind.

Tinfoil Hattery at its finest...

Each and every one of these images is of rocks. Some not even mars based.

Do me a favour?
Jump on google earth, go stare at some mountain ranges and tell me how many 'faces', 'greys', 'famous people', 'animals', or any other incredible shapes you find.
Infact, go and stare at the tea leaves in the bottom of your Cup.

Or better still go and find a magnifying glass and get out in your back garden, are you going to be telling me the ants are building monuments to their giant human masters next?

you're no better than the god-fearing idiots who can find an 'apparition' of 'jesus' in a dogs rear end.

www.metro.co.uk...

Serious.
