Poland begins state funeral for Lech Kaczynski

The state funeral of President Lech Kaczynski and his wife has begun, with thousands of people gathered in the city of Krakow to pay respects. After a funeral Mass, the couple will be buried in Wawel Cathedral, resting place of kings and national heroes. Ninety-six people died eight days ago when their plane crashed in fog as they flew to attend a ceremony in Russia. Many world leaders cannot attend the funeral because flights have been grounded by Icelandic volcanic ash. However, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev flew to Krakow despite air travel restrictions.

I am surprised Omitry Medvedev is attending , and I hope that the skys clear soon over Poland.It is a very sad day there for all.

It is a sad day. If I wasn't on ATS and only watched MSM, I would not have realized how important this man was to many people. In the US, we refer to men like him as "patriots" due to their love of country. I was impressed by the comments of the Georgian President about Lech...speaks volumes...here's a vid from RT...
