Dear LucidDreamer85

Have you been to Asia ever?? I live here.

You think these guys look badly done to, well guess what they most likely had to fight or at least bribe someone to get that fantastic job.

What you think of as slave labor they think of as food on the table for there family.

However seeing how you in the west view the likes of this I commend post by order in chaos for posting the thread. If only to show you in the west the reality of the world you live in.

These people are not forced by their government or anybody else for that matter to take this job, they come into the city in droves and pray to get a job like this.

Dear felonius

Sorry it is not slave labor and I have worked in a very similar factory in Asia.

If you knew Asia you would realize that these people came from the countryside praying to get this job.

You want slave labor try where they came from. Bent double dressed from head to toe in a blue rag in 38°C planting rice for may be $2USD a day when they can get the work.

Now that is slave labor think about that with your curry tonight.

It doesn't matter how you try to spin it. It's still wrong. Tons of people go to Beijing for work. People deserve rights and benefits at a job and they don't get that. So yes it is in a way like slave labor. They are forced to work these crappy jobs under those conditions because they have no other choice. Never mind corrupt officials going into places of business, stealing things and then threatening anyone that would report it. Keep spreading your propaganda lies.

After reading some of these posts I have come to the conclusion that many of you don't have a clue about the last 50 years of China and only post your thoughts according to what MSM says. Pretty ironic considering this is a conspiracy website.

Chinese people were poor as can be after the Civil War in China. Proceed on 20 years, nearly the same situation. In the 1970's you would eat a piece of batsai(a common Chinese vegetable) for breakfast and just maybe you might get an egg i you were lucky.

Now, Chinese people go to Mcdonalds. Buy expensive cellphones. Own their own houses, businesses. Consume an excessive amount of things they don't need. This is a big part thanks to reformist Deng Xiaoping. Going from eating a piece of vegetable to stuffing your face with a food while wasting your time away on the internet whenever and wherever you want is the farthest thing from this "dangerous red Chinese socialism" you guys label it to be. In fact, it sounds just like...guess where?

The government is not the same government that was in power when your parents or grandparents were fighting communism. So why are you still putting up a fight against an enemy that doesn't exist? To help you sleep at night? It isn't perfect, and China is still underdeveloped compared to many 1st world countries...but nobody jumps from nothing to perfection overnight.

Instead of saving the world from climate change i'd rather save every human being from slavery. This is capitalism at its best.

Dear TruthSeeker8300

Welcome to the real world.

Wrong you say, This is Asia and guess what it is the best it has ever been.

Once a pone a time I had the opportunity to but product from Taiwan it was much cheaper than the European counterpart and I needed that to compete in the market.

However it bothered me in the same way as this is obviously bothering you. So guess what I did I got of an aircraft and went to look at how they managed to compete.

I came to this conclusion, if I buy the product they get the wage if I don’t their rice bowl remains empty.

Guess what in a few years through the business that I gave them and naturally many other as well they will surpass your standard of living. You are the one that should be feeling sorry for yourself.

Welcome to the world.

Plain horse doo doo.

Most comments are from people who never been to Dongguan or China for that matter.

34 pennies (I'm assuming that's what 34p stood for) a day? Where the hell do they get info like that?

I work for an OEM/ODM manufacturer similar to the one you see making Microsoft's products. I'm telling you, right now the information present is incorrect and has a sick twist to intentionally attack Microsoft or other manufacturers.

China is dealing with major labor shortage issues right now, also the increase of worker salary. Current average worker in our factory earns about 1800 RMB a month. That's like roughly $10 to $13 USD per day, I know it's not much to us, but it's definitely not 34 pennies. Foxconn doesn't even pay their workers 34 pennies a day... come on now..

The image provided basically shows all the workers taking a 10 to 30min. nap for working extra hour shifts. A perk that the company offers their employees. And stop with the 15 hour shift crap, the workers are "HAPPY" getting the overtime, you understand that? Not all people are lazy Americans who complains about working a 9 to 5 job.

Guys, here's the difference k? In America, if you tell me to work overtime, I would get pissed off. I don't want the 1.5x pay, I just want to go home and pop a beer and watch the game. Some people, like a lot of illegal immigrant workers here, they "LOVE" overtime. They actually want to work a 12 hour shift every day, because they're happy with the big ass pay check at the end of the month.

Besides, someone already hit the spot on a previous post. You know, Chinese citizens actually fight over jobs like these. They are very lucky if they can even get into one of these high-tech factories. Do you know what their alternatives are? Of course you don't, you never lived or probably never even been to China.

In China, it's all about getting into a good high school then getting into a good college. You only get one shot in life, well when you have 1.3 billion people.. what do you expect right? High School exams determines your future. You flunk, can't get into a good college, your life is pretty much over. There is no such thing as going back to Community College at 32 then transferring to a 4 year University. That doesn't happen.

So if you didn't do well in school, when you get into the real world, you don't have much options. You can open your own store if you're rich enough, but generally that's not going to happen since everyone is poor. Your alternative would be selling crap on the street curb, you name it, be it fish worms, vegetables or clothing. Swap meet for life, making maybe 100x less money compared to getting a job in these so called "Sweat Shops".

You say poor them? I say poor us for being stupid and not understanding how their world works. Then come screaming human right violations from half way across the friggin' globe, minding other people's business.

Another reason why U.S. is hated amongst the world. We keep getting ourselves into sh*t that we just don't fully understand.
