6.3-magnitude quake strikes Papua New Guinea

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck Papua New Guinea on Sunday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey Reported.

There were no immediate report of injuries, damages or deaths.

The quake struck at 9:15 a.m. Sunday (7:15 p.m. ET Saturday), according to the USGS.

Not as big as some others, but it seems that our Earth is racking up her yearly quota for earthquake's over 6 magnitude pretty quick this year......It just rubs me the wrong way. Feels like this year is going to be worse than anything we've seen in a while.

Just happened 20 something minutes ago I think it said, so hopefully we won't start getting reports flooding in of hundreds of people dead.

Yeah, they've been coming so regularly lately that I signed up for the USGS notification service on their website. If I remember correctly, this was a deep one at around 66km. The deep ones (generally over 50km deep) are found only in deep subduction zone areas at the edges of plates.
