Well, it's about time!

President Washington has enjoyed a squeaky clean reputation for FAR TOO LONG IMO.:shk:

Now, finally, a group of political activists have dug up the dirt on the dark and scandalous side of President George Washington;

George Washington racks up late fees at NY library

NEW YORK - If George Washington were alive today, he might face a hefty overdue library fine.

New York City's oldest library says one of its ledgers shows that the president has racked up 220 years' worth of late fees on two books he borrowed, but never returned.

One of the books was the "Law of Nations," which deals with international relations. The other was a volume of debates from Britain's House of Commons.

Both books were due on Nov. 2, 1789.

New York Society Library head librarian Mark Bartlett says the institution isn't seeking payment of the fines, but would love to get the books back.

If he were alive today, he'd have one heck of a late fee bill due for those two books.

We now have a new title for the sainted "father of America";

President George Washington: Library Book Thief.

I bet if it was some regular Joe they'd make him pay up the fine.

Once again just goes to prove there are two sets of rules: one for the politicians and one for the general public.

No, it just goes to show that there are two sets of rules: one for the general public and one for those who have been deceased for over 200 years.

Yeah, those stinkin dead people get away with EVERYTHING!!!

This whole story just goes to show you how the slippery slope begins; First, it starts off innocently, with a couple of library books, then after a few generations of Presidential abuse, you have a president violating the principals of the Declaration of Independence and declaring war on the American people, pretty soon you have a president who kills off witnesses to his sexual infidelities and shady business deals, the next one blows up buildings in order to start wars for oil and conquest and the latest incarnation resorts to open bribery to advance his agenda, against the will of the American people and he's only getting started. :bnghd:

And to think, if someone would have just held Washington accountable for those library books, we could be living in a different, hopefully better country today.
