Don your telepathic headset and plug into your iPhone. Want to call your friend? Just look at her picture and think about her. See Also * EPOC Neuroheadset * Controlling Virtual Worlds with Your Mind * Mind Reading Goes Mainstream No, this isn’t SF technology from the latest episode of Caprica (although the smart phones in Caprica look suspiciously like our own). A new iPhone app described in the MIT Technology Review blog developed by Tanzeem Choudhury, Rajeev Raizada, Andrew Campbell and others at Dartmouth College lets you “wink” or “think dial” your relative or friend when his or her photo appears on an iPhone. Dubbed the “NeuroPhone” (not to be confused with the “Neurophone” developed by Dr. Patrick Flanagan in 1958, a device that converts sound to electrical impulses) it’s a brainwave-phone interface that uses a wireless EEG headset to send signals wirelessly to an iPhone.

While I'm sure many of you will immediately pick up on the part that discusses hackers, I find this technology to be absolutely amazing. It seems like every week we have more articles on technology like the Emotiv EPOC, when just a few years ago this kind of technology seemed like a pipe dream. Considering how quickly this technology has gone from big bulky lab equipment, to a stream lined headset, one can imagine that over the next few years our world will begin to look drastically different as technology starts to become more integrated with human physiology.

EDIT: Wrong title.

Have you seen some of the new stuff where a guy has a camera/projector where the mouse has been rewired to his hand?

Its very cool. Put the two tech together, think-do and hand-sign, with the ability to sub-vocalize to computer imagery only you can see....

I don't know that I see Caprica in that application - you aren't loading an Avatar of yourself - instead you are physically interacting with digital data.

ever seen the movie "Strange Days" ??... there lies your answer.

I'd like to see what kind of haywired crazy spikes occur when someone experiencing a kundalini awakening wears one of these!

crown chakra blazing with electrical activity.. this thing probably will get scrambled, burnout, and void warranty.
