I personally think this is great. I have a good friend and she has been with her partner for 12 years. i couldnt imagine if something happened and she couldnt be there with her. Everyone deserves the same rights. Im very much against anyt laws granting special rights to any group of people, but in this case its another step towards gay/lesbian equality and that i applaud.

So liberals are the hallmark of human decency? Then why do liberal ideals so closely mirror facism?

ever heard of NWO! Daddy Bush loved the word New World Order !

you know what it means right >?

do you know what this symbol stands for ! ? look at link
en.wikipedia.org...
en.wikipedia.org...

ever look at the back of a USA Mercury Dime ?
House of representatives?
Lincoln Memorial ?

here is a site of many ! of the symbolism of Fascist

www.cremationofcare.com...

a brief snippit

The symbol of the Fasci comprises of many sticks or rods (symbolic of industries, people, nations or societies etc) being tied together. The theme being that one stick alone can be easily snapped, but many tied together tightly are unbreakable and that true strength (economically, socially, politically etc.) can be gleaned from a united nation (such as Nazi Germany) or several nations (such as the U.N. and/or the E.U.). The symbol is incomplete however, without an axe head at the top, symbolizing the elite group in control of the united power, traditionally coming in the form of a fascist dictator(ship). This is where the term Axis power emerged from during WW2. In other words the true strength (of the elite) is to have the many groups tied together in bondage with a single centralized power ruling over them (be it globally or nationally).

liberal you say! was Daddy bush a liberal ?

the most Irony thing is when at 36sec mark of this video! (below) is that he is talking about a New World Order! when he has the The symbols of the Fasci on the sides of him describing the same thing what those 2 symbols on the side of him stand for !

That dog don't hunt. He asked for the job, and he ran on a platform of fixing things. So far, Obama has broken every single promise made during his campaign.
  • All bills will be published online for the public to view for a certain number of days (10 I believe?) before he signs them. Nope
  • Ending the Iraqi War. Nope. instead let's start some more stuff in Afghanistan
  • No tax increases on lower and middle class. Nope, drove the cost of tobacco up 250% with a swipe of the pen.
  • An administration that listens to the people. Maybe he meant only the people who agree with him?

None of this was Bush's fault. Bush didn't decide to go full tilt in Afghanistan before withdrawing from Iraq. Bush didn't raise the tobacco tax this go-around. Bush didn't fail to honor a pledge about placing bills on line.

This ain't about Bush vs. Obama. It's about what's right and what's wrong. This move is right, but everything else he has done is wrong. Bush did the same.... a little good, a lot of bad.

This is a bunch of crap. Since 1977, I've worked in over 30 hospitals around the US And I Have Never Witnessed, Heard Of, Nor Taken Part Of, Denying Anybody Visitation Privileges, Regardless Of Sexual Orientation. Even if it was after visiting hours! Again, This is nothing but political corrective BS.

This is called extortion and fraud. The fed has no authority over what happens in the states. Hospitals have no business doing what the fed uses fraud to claim their obligated to do or apply extortion to gain compliance.

Yes it was. Did Bush promise as part of his campaign promises to put all bills online for public viewing?

yeah thats were the real terrorist Taliban Jihad Al-Qaeda were in the First Place...

So you support the Afghani actions, then? Amazing, seeing as Afghanistan was the first place Bush went into. Iraq came later. Obama did not start the Afghan actions; he simply increased them. And we still have troops in Iraq, despite promises to withdraw them.

What ? Enlighten me please ?

Within the first weeks of Obama's administration, he signed a bill that increased the tax on cigarette tobacco by a few thousand percent. That tax increase alone drove the cost of what I used to get for $60 to $150. That is a 250% increase in my taxes. And seeing as most of the people who smoke are not only not wealthy, but many are lower income, that is a direct massive tax increase on the lower income people.

Nope he promised Daddy Bush that he will finish were Daddy Bush left off
as both of them are in the oil business yeah guard those oil refinery's first before anything else first ! in Kuwait Bush did not withdraw ! What ?

Link, please. Something, anything that backs up what you think Bush promised his father. Otherwise that statement is pure fantasy role-playing in your own mind.

Oil did not profit during Bush's administration nearly as much as Insurance and the Pharmaceuticals...

I wonder why what is in Afghanistan i forgot the Crops! ohh yeah it not Tobacco either ! are you a heavy Smoker ? afraid of a prohibition of tobacco ?

Yes, I am a heavy smoker, by choice, and I do not like being taxed heavily on a legal product I enjoy. Neither would you.

I do not fear prohibition. I am starting to grow my own tobacco. Problem solved.

Tobacco company's should not put toxic preservatives in their products then most people that are heavy users of Black Lung instead of cancer !

Under Obama, Fire-Safe cigarettes (FSC) are being sold and even mandated in some areas. They use chemicals in the papers to slow the burning process, which also release more toxins into the smoke. So is it the tobacco companies or Obama who is poisoning people now?

let wait 2 more years to see how well he is doing !

    Like I have a choice...

Can we get back on topic now? This thread is about hospital visitation rights...

Afghanistan was put on the back burner of low setting ! then now its reversal! now I hear talks of invading Iran McCain would like to pull the trigger on Iran ! and the major threat North Korea! that has WMDs ! did they have a underground nuke test ? are they like a Orwellian Fascist/Socialistic Dream reality world ! yes and why not invade them! NK were raised from birth to be trained to kill Americans and to be Fearless! 50 years in the making and the 5th largest military nation in the world as it been claimed

    ON TOPIC

Bush Signed not only for Gays but long term members also a right for a partner to be by an Admitted Loved one also i remember he gave money to people for low income family's to get school supplies and clothing last year as i remember

And did you know that Obama has a Degree in Civil rights ! right ! ?

As a civil rights attorney and professor of constitutional law

Gays should not face discrimination but should not marry ? (debate question) for election ) Q: [to Keyes]: You’ve criticized homosexuality throughout your career. What would you say to your child if he or she were a homosexual? KEYES: Marriage is based upon heterosexual relations because they are connected to procreation. Where procreation is impossible, marriage is irrelevant. And that is the civic explanation against homosexual marriage. It is irrelevant. And the idea that one should have legislation that is regulating private friendships for no reason is a degrading of those friendships. OBAMA: Well, to answer the original question, I would love that child and seek to support them. I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman but I detest the bashing and vilifying of gays and lesbians. Most gays and lesbians are seeking basic recognition of their rights so they’re not discriminated against in employment or renting a house, so they can see their partner in a hospital. These are rights for everybody, not just some people. The only people who could possibly be against this are gay bashers.

Hell even my mother who HATES Obama said and i quote "Oh who cares, it's about time"

How anyone can post this and hope for a productive discussion (which out thinking it'll resort to gay bashing) is quite foolish.

That dog don't hunt. He asked for the job, and he ran on a platform of fixing things. So far, Obama has broken every single promise made during his campaign.

That is, frankly, a disingenuous and serious LIE.

Yes, he has broken some promises, it is a bit precious to expect anyone to bat a thousand, especially in this nasty political climate. But he has fulfilled 5 times as many as he has broken, and reached compromise positions on many more.

Current stats according to PolitiFact: (as at Sunday April 18, 2010)

    Promises Kept : 108
    Compromised : 34
    Broken : 19
    Stalled : 83
    In the Works : 257
    No Action Yet : 3

Notice that listening to other people and compromising is not a broken promise. Nor is wanting something done but having it stall in Congress due to lack of interest is not breaking a promise.

And certainly having things in active development, but not enacted yet is not a broken promise.

If you don't like Obama's policies, say so, but please don't lie about his record. It doesn't take too much effort to be correct, and likewise it doesn't take much effort for people to see through your vituperative rhetoric.

    * All bills will be published online for the public to view for a certain number of days (10 I believe?) before he signs them. Nope

Yup, that is one of his broken promises. But the promise was 5 days and for 'non-emergency' bills only. He hasn't done a very good job there.

    * Ending the Iraqi War. Nope. instead let's start some more stuff in Afghanistan

Ending the war in Iraq is not a trivial thing. I don't remember saying he had a magic wand that was going make it happen overnight. As I remember it, he did say he was going to pay more attention to Afghanistan, and that disengagement in Iraq was a priority.

That seems like exactly what is happening. He is certainly not starting 'some more stuff in Afghanistan'. He is 'simply' refocusing on where the effort should have been all along.

Looking it up on PolitiFact this is the promise he made about Iraq:

On "my first day in office, I would give the military a new mission: ending this war".

And that is exactly what he did. Promise Kept. PolitiFact documents it here.

    * No tax increases on lower and middle class. Nope, drove the cost of tobacco up 250% with a swipe of the pen.

Hmmmm. Lower and middle class folk are the only smokers? Sounds like a rather elitist remark to me. But I grant you, his rhetoric was rather all embracing. The fact that the tobacco tax affects everyone with out regard to income is only half an excuse.

Frankly he painted himself into a corner with this one. It was a silly remark to make, one that couldn't possibly be kept.

    * An administration that listens to the people. Maybe he meant only the people who agree with him?

Edit: missed comment here first time. Sorry.

Is this about the 5 days comment period? OK, that is broken. But I seem to have noticed a lot of his study commissions with lots of extended public comment periods on them. It strikes me that there is a lot of promises in the 'in the works' category precisely because of this process.

Or by 'people' do you mean Glen and Rush? Or opinion polls? Sorry, you get no sympathy from me there.

None of this was Bush's fault. Bush didn't decide to go full tilt in Afghanistan before withdrawing from Iraq.

You really can't see the irony in that statement, can you?

Bush didn't raise the tobacco tax this go-around. Bush didn't fail to honor a pledge about placing bills on line.

So what? Did he make any other promises? How many did he break? Anybody checking up on that?

This ain't about Bush vs. Obama. It's about what's right and what's wrong. This move is right, but everything else he has done is wrong. Bush did the same.... a little good, a lot of bad.

Yeah. It sounds like its about you having to pay more for your smokes. You are the one that is bringing Bush into the argument. What is up with that? You want to throw out the Constitution and give him a third term or something?

The fact is that Obama did inherit three giant messes from Bush. Messes that Bush took 8 years to stir up. Obama isn't going to fix everything in 1 year.

    Please get some perspective.

And stop lying about it, there is enough real stuff to debate about without manufacturing bull dung.
