I do know when a bunch of liberals are driving my country into the ground and are treading on my freedoms.

It was the right that drove your country into the ground and forced the patriot act on congress not the left my friend. You have been watching way too much Fox news.

Well really wisenheimer what does a 17year old know about taxes?

This is a stupid statement from a stupid kid. His opinon really means very little on this issue.

The problem is that his handlers will not tell him otherwise and in fact tell him what a great young man he is for getting involved in the prosses. And so it may take him years and many hard lessions for him to recover. In the meantime people who really do know what they are taking about will have to suffer the fool.

So....if you haven't gone to war, you have no right to voice an opinion? Being born American is incidental? Gee, things have changed a mite since my last visit.

Well in truth there are many in this country that believe that being a vet is reason to discount ones opinion. Seeing how vets are probably all stupid brain dupes and cant see things clearly vote along strict party lines and so on.

But this all goes back to a sense of entitlement. Some dont believe they have to pay a price for anything or respect those that do. Thus you have 17 year olds trying to school on taxes.

C'mon...the 'shocking and sad' truth is that if these kids had have been supporting the teabaggers instead, this would be a whole different thread.

I'll warrant that our OP would have puffed out his chest in pride that today's kids were seeing through Obama's socialist threat.

Finally, what kind of lesson does it teach our kids when they are told their political opinions are only relevant when they agree with us. That's not the example I set for my kids.

My kids are pretty savvy...they can read, they can reason, and they can 'school on taxes', too. I'm sure that's not beyond a plugged-in American kid!

I am not American.. but if you would be so kind as to indulge me for a moment i will give my opinion on this...

Quite often in life it is not people’s opinions you need to listen to but the reasons for them.

Personally i don’t really agree with right wing politics (although there are aspects of right wing politics i understand and support) however, if i take the time to listen to a person’s reason for their views (as opposed to just attacking those views) i will often find common ground and a basis for an intellectual and amicable debate!

I believe that the mistake you made was to go on the offensive without listening to the reasons behind these kids opinions. You called them Nazis (a very strong and offensive thing to call someone without any proof) without trying to understand their view point!

If, however, you had listened to their opinions and found them to be fascist or Nazi then by all means call them Nazis (if that what you honestly believe) But i honestly don’t believe you gave them enough of an ear to make those assumptions!

In your defence, I’m sure that this is a subject you feel passionate about and therefore it is easy to get all riled up (I’ve done it myself in the past)

But try to swallow a some pride and have little humbleness... It is YOU as the adult that needed to set the standard for your conversation... and if you had shown some patience and understanding with these kids you would probably have had a far more positive effect on them. As it stands, they probably went home with their opinions reinforced!

Remember "A soft answer turneth away wrath"

Peace

I had forgotten that along with today being tax day that it was also a day of Tea Party gatherings.
As I was coming out of the grocery store I noticed that there were some kids dressed in yellow making some signs in the parking lot. I could see a tea cup on one of the signs so I went over to ask them what they were about. They said that they were "teens againt the tea party". I asked them if they thought they were informed and a young girl spoke and said very informed. I told them that they had been mis-informed and a young man who must have been around 17 said "what's wrong with taxes?". I started to blow him out but my wife was with me and she doesn't like confrontation and wanted to go. I told them that they were basically Nazi youth and were decieved.

I really laughed reading your post thanks for making my day. Hope you don't mind if I take screenshot of it and show it to others so we all can share a laugh. Oh and by the way!! if those kids were Nazi then Nazi is now something to be proud of!!
Would you like to prove you are a police officer with a picture of your id/ police batch number?

Getting a cop/veteran to be humble is like walking on water. Many have a anger management problem. True there are some that are fair well adjusted individuals but even in most of those humility is strikingly low.

Sounds like you have intellectual problems. What you have quoted in a contradictory fashion IS exactly what happened. Kids do what celebrities tell them, no joke.

A mumbo-jumbo paradigm enforcing group formed to work for and with the police state and led by none other than-

seeashrink,

It's really sad, not only young people are brainwashed, but seemingly mature adults. It's hard for me to read half of the replies to your OP and not come to the conclusion that unless something really changes, we are about done. Thanks for being a good public servant(I hope) and maybe people who are clueless now will wake up as things continue to go down hill.

They would certainly learn from the tea party. You can bet that the tea party has a better all around understanding of what tax is and people that think "taxes are cool".

And when it comes to taxes anyone not paying taxes has a near irrelevant opinion. Thats the kind of exsample I set for my kids. Kids can reason and read but theres nothing like having to pay taxes of all sorts to school a young snot nose. My kids want me to buy them a car, pay for the gas, fix the darn thing, pay for insurance and then school me on how cool spinning the tires is??.....not going to happen here.

Please forgive me if i'm getting you wrong here, but are you saying that anyone who supports taxes is a part of the Nazi youth? If this is what you are saying does this mean you are against all taxes? If you are then how would you suggest a government is funded? How would roads be built, schools run, police paid and all of the other important functions of a society?

The idea that supporting taxes makes you a part of the Nazi youth is, to use your thread title, shocking and sad.

No offence but does this have to digress into a basic tax course? No one here would say we have no need for taxes all togeather. We have moved way passed that these days where have you been?

Tea Party believes we are not getting taxed anymore but robbed. Not talking about road repair here. Talking about supporting tax lushes. Terminal taxation like what happened to Rome.

Wow....another voice of sanity crying in the wilderness. Finally....someone sees a problem with the 16 or 17 year old boy asking a 54 year old adult "whats wrong with taxes". Thanks my friend, you give me hope.

Like you said, it`s a small town. I`ve lived in a few small towns myself. The kids were probably bored. It`s hard to have a "life" in a town where there`s nothing to do. You should be glad they weren`t doing what a lot of kids resort to when there`s nothing to do: drugs and alcohol, lets not forget sex. whatever this is, it will pass and they will move on or it will get them interested enough to eventually be led to the truth. Unfortunately you may have hindered that process and they may be a few steps backward from making the progress they could have made. You know? When you called them Nazis? What happened at that moment was the gap between whatever your spiel was and what they believe got bigger. How much bigger depends on a lot of things. There`s even a SMALL chance that you did help one or more of them, but with the tactics you used on them, you didn`t really maximize your potential to get through to them. Believe it or not, if you show respect, more often than not it will be returned in some way. One of your first questions was: are you informed. They answer : very informed. Without any further questions you reached your verdict: No they are misinformed and furthermore they are young Nazis. I really don`t mean to be rude but if you are going to let your wife stop you from helping kids learn something and if what you do say is doing more harm than good, then perhaps you could do us a huge favor and just kind of... coach from the sidelines and let us who care more about the future of our youth than avoiding our wives` pms and possess a true knowledge of awakening others take care of the grunt work. Your wife dislikes confrontation? Maybe that`s your problem: you turn every encounter with people of a different belief than you into a confrontation. Now I`ve just said some things that were not very nice. And I honestly don`t know where some of that came from. But I feel it was needed. AND BEFORE YOU CALL ME A HYPOCRITE(oops caps accidental cant explain now) let me tell you, the difference between you and me is i`m not done with you yet, I have nice things to say, too. Unfortunately I had to do something I hate doing in order to get your attention. continue next post.

Before you go on allow me to explain; My wife does not like confrontation because she has PTSD from an assault 6 years ago. It's amazing what we assume. Having said that I will thank you for leaving any references to her out of your future post, enough said.

Why would I post a picture of my badge, etc. My being a police officer has nothing to do with this. If I had been in uniform I would not have spoken to the kids at all. I go to great lengths not to abuse my authority, there are enough cops out there doing that without my help. However, if you are in doubt that I am a cop and you live in NC, I will be glad to arrange a ride along.
