I told them that they had been mis-informed

You said this to them before they even told you what they believed. And they were in the wrong?

Would you have enlightened them to the fact that the previous president ballooned the government? Or is he ok because he had an R after his name?

So, instead of being confrontational, which causes your wife discomfort, you just tell the kids they are nazis and go about your merry way.

Nothing confrontational there.

Actually, I agree with these kids. Taxes can be good. To a point. That point really, though, is an individual's own idea.

Taxation without represenatation? WTF? Do you live in some colony somewhere that is controlled by the U.S. government. but you don't get to vote for represenatives?

You're the one who sounds like a nazi brown-shirt. I actually think a better name would be the tea-shirt movement. I hope you enjoy eating your cheap food (thanks to taxpayer subsidies) that you bought after driving on tax-payer funded roads.

Best,
Skunknuts

P.S. If you had tried that with me, I would have buried you, intellectually. I hope you aren't a hypocrite enjoying social security, Medicare, VA benefits, or any other 'socialistic' program. I hope you drive around with a shovel and asphalt in your trunk to fill potholes. I hope you deliver your own mail, fight your own wars and fires, have 911 forwarded to your own phone. It's at the point where conservatives are so brainwashed that they think that a government existing=nazism.

You don't like the interference of a functioning government--move to Afghanistan and enjoy your 'freedom.'

P.P.S. A big reason you got so pissed is you have been brainwashed to think that your radical unpatriotic view towards America and the commander in chief is vastly more widespread than it is. You saw some kids that pushed some reality into your bubble of delusional hate, and you reacted as expected. Watch your heart come November, you might experience something even more shocking....

[edit on 4/15/2010 by skunknuts]

Lets see....your assessment. I'm unpatriotic, I should move to Afghanistan, I should fill my own pot holes, answer my own 911 calls, etc, etc. Oh, and of course you would slay me intellectually.
Reality: I'm a 10 year veteran. I am a Police Officer in my own town..you're right, I don't call 911 unless the intruder needs EMS. I am not on welfare. I work a second job that is my own business in my spare time to make ends meet. I owed the state and federal government around $1500 each in taxes this past year which I barrowed money to pay. (By the way, the state came after me like I was Al Capone, I wonder what they did to the guy that owed them $500,000 in taxes? Answer: Nothing, he could afford the lawyers to tie them up in court)
You are the one living in a bubble. You believe that your government only has your best interest at heart. That all your tax dollars are justly spent. You must belive that illegal aliens should have health care and perhaps your job and food stamps and your own children should stuggle to get the same benefits. You believe that our soldiers are dying in Iraq and Afghanistan for something besides oil. Your bleeding heart and ignorance make me sick at my stomach
Before you answer, tell me that you have served your country on some level. Tell me that you have sacrificed and earned the right to express your opinion in some way other than being born on American soil. Thats not a right, thats an accident. If you can't do that then you are just a Peter Pan in Never Never Land Go home little one and sleep the sleep of fools.

I do believe with taxation within reason and the transparency to know what my taxes are being used for. When I see illegals drawing unemployment and getting free health care.........you know....I think I'm wasting my breath.

So....if you haven't gone to war, you have no right to voice an opinion? Being born American is incidental? Gee, things have changed a mite since my last visit.

Sure it's easy for a 17 year old to be all on the side of taxes. Yet 17 year olds don't have to pay taxes, so what does he know about them? Secondly, if they were REALLY informed on taxes they would know that you don't actually HAVE to pay taxes...Just be ready for a long and drawn out fight.

As far as I know, Veterans fought for AMERICAN rights, not veteran rights, although they should have been given a lot more of those too!

Okay, I'm back. I at least want you to admit that to correct other people's children; children who have been raised by their own parents, parents who have instilled their beliefs and values into their children is wrong.

Those parents have as much right to pass their values to their own children as you do, and were probably proud of the fact that they were vocal, and trying to engage the community. (I would have been proud.)

Wouldn't you be very annoyed, had it been "brainless liberals", correcting your children, and going against the values you taught them?

You said you are a police officer, and I have all the respect in the world for police officers, but this wasn't a law enforcement function.

Absolutely in no way, shape, or form was I speaking to those kids as a law enforcement officer. I was not in uniform and I did not tell them I was a cop.
I was not correcting them, I was giving them my opinion as I also am free to do. I did not yell at them or intimidate them. Would you not agree if you consider yourself old enough to express your opinion especially through the genre of a demonstration, that you are old enough to hear opposing views. Several have mentioned the fact that I told them that they were being Nazi Youth. One of them said I was a facist, its OK, she expressed her opinion
Ladyinwaiting, please note that in my OP I said that I was glad to see our youth involved, but I believe them to be misled. Many seem to think that I jumped out of my car, smacked them up side the head with my pistol and told them to go home. No one, me nor them ever raised their voice. The exchange took probably less than a minute.
My post is about children being blind to what is going on in this country. Not about freedom of speech, etc.

JohnnyCanuck, things have not changed since your last visit here. I was responding to the insults that the individual I was talking to sent to me. It was not meant to be a blanket statement.
But, you do make a good point. Does being born in America make you an American, or better yet, does it make you a patriot? Food for thought.

Well thank you! I was beginning to think I was going to have to be here all evening to prevent you from ignoring me! (I can be pesky).

Seriously, I know you didn't call them nazi's, except only to us, and I know you weren't on duty. I think you commented the difference maybe, in what you would liked to have said/done and what you actually did say/do. Which we all do.

So, no biggie. I think you've been chastised enough. It's politics.

I will, I will! Gladly, but not tonight; it will have to wait. I've done all my dirty deeds for the day, and corrected all the wrongs, and beaten all the perpetrators.

Tomorrow is another day. You have a reprieve.

Remember children and other politically powerless groups are the first to be "cut" during a fiscal crisis. CA just laid off approx 23,000 teachers! Yet we can afford to spend 1 to 2 trillion dollars on "the war on terror". I would say these teenage "Nazis" have a stake in the political debate.

You do realize that 98% of middle and working class Americans received a tax cut this year? The rich need to pay their share!
