You are the best judge of your life and environment. If you believe that there is reason to prepare, prepare.
My family is reasonably prepared for a catastrophic event, the government has attempted to be extremely prepared in a world catastrophic event.
If for instance a super volcano erupts after all of these earthquakes and smaller volcanic eruptions going off, you will wish you had prepared. What
are the odds of that happening? I have no idea.
Frankly though always try to be rational.
The odds that you'll die to a terrorist attack are lower than the odds that you'll die to lightning strike or accidental drowning.
I hear stories that the super volcanoes 'could erupt at any time' and would essentially create a nuclear winter without any nuclear bombs going off.
I'd say that other than that occurring naturally and out of the control of humanity our risks for extreme situations requiring extensive survival
preparation (stockpiles, underground housing, etc) are extremely low.
The end of the world has been just around the corner since the beginning of written history. The sky has always been falling. Of course, that means
that when/if it actually does fall most people will be unprepared from "boy who cried wolf" effect.
