Iraqi police capture a top aide to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the Al Qaeda operative believed to be behind much of the violence in Iraq. The capture of
Umar Baziyani occured on May 30. He is known to have ties to Al Qaeda and several other extremist groups involved in attacks against Coalition forces
in Iraq. Many of these attacks resulted in tremendous loss of life for Iraqi civilians.

A U.S. military spokesman said Baziyani himself was wanted in connection with a series of attacks on U.S.-led coalition forces in Iraq.
"His capture removes one of Zarqawi's most valuable officers from his network," the spokesman said.
